AMD stock hits new 52-week low.
(Sorry, couldn't resist)
FYI: This post is intended to mock the following post - Intel Users Less Intelligent Than AMD
this is a repost!
Err.. actually its an opposite repost.
@ TC
. o O (payback at the other post?)
alright, I seriously want you to edit that post, this is going to turn into a major flame war very quickly

Nah, I think people here are tired of the flaming. I'm just poking fun and keeping things "fair" while laughing at anyone who had money in NYSE:AMD.
Not true just yet, flame wars go on all the time, though they seriously have died down a lot recently since baron hasn't done as much trolling and some others have calmed down
Baron has been a little more level headed lately. I just love AMD gluing the two cores together. It's the right move, but just too funny.
Yeah, I never thought they would do that, they claimed montreal would be a native octo core
haha, I surpose this is some kinda of joke one the "AMD users more intelligent than Intel" lol
Thank you for posting this!
Whoever came up with that last survey was and idiot and the people who supported must have been 2 or else their IQ was below 60!
That first link really hurts whoever had money invested in the stock for the past 13 months. To go from $40.53, 13 months ago and be 12.83 now.....As a general may say.....BAIL OUT!
Hopefully AMD can get their asses out of the rock they have been under lately and release R600 and don't dare to delay Barcelona.....but were not going to go there.....
James
Actually, amd has confirmed what everyone thought as has officially announced that they are just finishing up their entire dx10 line up and having a major release and are hoping to stomp nvidia in both the high and low end by doing so
Good the sooner they release the damn thing the sooner I'll build my computer. I just hate sitting infront of a 22" monitor be powered by a GeForce2 GTS (it's a family computer). Anyways I thought there hasn't been a firm date set yet, end of may/beginning of June I thought. Or did I miss an article somewhere.......
Since my 18 birthday is at the end of May maybe I can get the 2900xtx out of my parents.....unlikely but I can still dream
James
Haha
You're lucky, my parents give me no money at all
Anyways, there isn't a set date, but you have the ball park correct. I'm deciding personally on whether to buy a 22" samsung monitor or to hold off for a k10 cpu upgrade, but since I get birthday money in July, I guess i can hold off on the k10 cpu until the intel 45nms come out and amd releases price cuts
It's driving me crazy, I'm building in June/July with or without it, these delays are driving me crazy.
James
By July, it'll be around, but I'm sick of no benchmarks when they claim it's a working product
Anyways, I have to go to bed soon
I though the Coordinators were here to help keep the peace,
Not start another war.

Damn rich kid!
actually, in this situation AMD stockholders are still more intelligent because they can buy at a low price and when the stock prices go back up to 30 AMD stockholders will sell and make money.... take that and stick it up your .......
yeah im being a fag
yea, you are.
Bail out? Maybe if you were stupid enough to buy at $40 a share... but, at the moment, unless you think AMD is going to tank, this is a golden opportunity to buy the stock... it's always a dumb idea to sell a stock at its low, unless you think it has nowhere to go but down. If I had the money to buy a lot of 100 shares of AMD, I'd probably keep an eye on it and buy if the stock drops below $10 or climbs back up above $14.50. Typically a stock hitting new lows means either time to find the exits or time to take advantage of the situation. Since I don't see AMD really going completely under, you can tell which side of the argument I'm on. I don't see a lot of strong growth from AMD at the moment, but it's a potential opportunity, especially with Barcelona on the horizon.
Ya... but the thought of those who brought Amd's stock at a higher price, say 18-20 bucks a share, having expectations of it going higher, and then seeing it at 12, doesn't seem to be en-lighting.
But still, any company has the opportunity to get back on their feet.
Well there it is,knew it the whole time(and here I thought I was choseing AMD because I was cheap)...April fools ran a day late I see.For those about to become wallstreet wizards, the time is now gl

I agree with part of your post. But if they continue to sit on their asses for another month and a half (that's what it's looking like right now) this stock has nowhere to go but down. If AMD does cut prices on the 9th, they're going to need to selling significantly more processors to meat the same revenue, it's bad enough how much they are making per processors, I'm sure. No, I don't think they're going to go down under, they'd probably get some support from the governments to continue competition or at the least be bought by IBM. Either way I can't see them going down under, on the other hand I can only see their stocks seeing new lows till they get off their asses and either release some products or regain consumer confidence by showing us some bloody benchmarks. Till then I say.....BAIL OUT!

Ok, if this is such a sure bet... I challenge you to take your life savings, mortgage your house, sell your car, and sell your blood.... then dump it all into AMD today --- you could then more than double your self-worth when the stock hits 30 ...
Even the rich pros didn't do that kind of bet. They had more than one horse in the races.

CaptainRobertApril has a story that will curl your toes.
About, oh gosh this was 1986 I think, 21 years ago.... a friend just graduating high school had gotten a trust from his grandmother of about 30K to do with as he pleased.... he wanted to get into tech, specifically computers and asked me what company would be good. At the time I said a computer is worthless without an OS, that he should look into Microsoft. Dimwit (or brilliant) he put all 30K into MS.
He sent me a post card several years ago of a picture of his house .... or I should say, mansion, sorta thanking me
I liked that one!

Damnit! No.... just thanks.... I don't know when he sold or how much he gained, but I do know he held some or a good portion until the late 90's, where he alluded to the fact he 'exited and diversified'.....
I did not have any money to invest nor would I have the guts to do as he did.... at the time I thought he was stupid for putting the whole kit and kaboodle into one company.
JackHindsight.....20/20...etc.etc... :x

err.....because they have paid more than $40 per share, and now each is worth less than $13?
| Quote : they can buy at a low price |
everybody can buy at low prices right now, but the question is how low are they going down?
| Quote : and when the stock prices go back up to 30 AMD stockholders will |
only loose around $10 per share?
Like I said, the only way I get interested in a LONG position on this stock is if it hits around $5 per share... we're on our way
AMD is now starting to be put on bankruptcy watch:

See, but if he had done the same thing with AMD when AMD was stomping Intel, he would be living in a box now.
Fickle stock market.

James, we're all angry with AMD for all these delays, but still... If I understand correctly you can't even trade stocks legally until May when you're 18, right? Come on, don't give investment advice because somebody might take it seriously and then blame you
Personally I made nice profits by buying and selling both AMD and INTC in the good old days of the bubble. For you young ones out there, the bubble was back around 1997..2000 when everybody was making money and tech jobs were plenty and CNN had nothing better to talk about than cigars and stains on dresses.
I can't say I'm good at picking stocks, not even close, but on these two cases it was simple: assume they will both be around for a long time, buy when everybody is screaming about how they suck, sell whenever you're ahead 30% (or whatever, just pick your number up front and stick with it). I'm sure AMD will survive these bad times, it's been through worse.

Good advice, and it takes patience and the right temperment. Now-a-days a lot of voices encourage everyone to play the market instead of investing.
Oops, I just realized I gave investment advice while asking James not to
Sorry! Anyway, I hope AMD will stay with us, it would be painful otherwise.
