Hello again,

Thanks everybody for the answers on my question about backup.

Now another (newbie PPC) question.
How can I format an SD card in my PPC?

With installation there are a few maps named #^g)7$!@*(
I want to format and start anew.
Is that possible?

Ruud.

Really don't need to "format"

simply highlight the contents of the root of the card "be careful!" by
navigating to the root directory of the card, tap <ctrl-a> then <shift-Del>

Thanks, but when I do that, the system says "Cannot delete, forbidden
characters" or something in that way.

Get a card reader for your computer, install it. Put the card ito the reader
then format it. There are some utilities that can format on your ppc-
google.

A SD card has a pretty elaborate method of shifting around memory use for
stretching out that 10,000 or so write count time on the physical layer to a
million or more writes total. It is not consecutive space, and the
combination of space that you do use is pretty much unique for that instance
of memory state thanks to wear leveling technology. A format might not be
the answer.

That is, you may be looking at a bad card. Hopefully the card might
optimize itself and you gain back the bad entries, but I have had similiar
problems that did not go away. But I wish you luck, although I would
suggest that you try some SD card tools out there (free timed demos are
great) in a PC, which tend to be more robust than those available on the
PPC. Sometimes a format attempt will only aggravate the conditions, but
whatever you do good luck.

also, just ran across this one (didn't do a price comparison) which looks
like it has some added features:

http://www.cnetx.com/format/

they both have trials, so do a comparison and figure out which one works for
you.
