What are you talking about firewire is the fastest thing ever!! It puts gigabit ethernet to shame! Why else would they have come out with it if it was slower than gigabit?

Bahhh...

Everyone knows the Printer Port has the fastest connection. I mean its right there on the MB, and feeds directly to the CPU. I mean look at all them pins to transfer data at a high... err rate.

 . o O (sorry for wasting anyone time reading my post)

NOTE TO THE OP: THIS is one of the main reasons USB was invented, to provide an updated interconnect between devices, NOT FOR DRIVE CONNECTIONS!!

I have a floppy that I use around 3 or 4 times a year. Ive been into computers since 1993 and as sad it is, It looks like somethings missing with out a floppy drive.

LONG LIVE THE FLOPPY

And when floppy connectors are no longer on mother boards ill put a picture of a floppy on the front LOL

Floppy disks are dead. have been for years. Why would anyone use an extremely unreliable storage media when you can slip a USB memory stick in your pocket that can carry nearly 2000 floppy disks worth of data. Its also much more reliable. Floppy disks are a waste of time, 3 1/2 inch floppy drives have followed 5 1/4 drives to the grave yard. I look after 450 PC's at work and not one of them has a floppy drive.

Jeeeesuzz! I go away for the weekend and this thing has festered (as in pustule) into 3 pages of hyperbole, with even DaSickone weighing in? The only time I witnessed greater attention to some fluff like this garnering so much attention was when some little dolly wrote in asking for advice. They all came flocking.

Let's just all agree to toss this skewed attraction to The Floppy off as a romantic fascination, much like the young lady that got a gazillion pages of responses, or like Detroit, who is continually able to pawn allegedly new ideas off on to an unsuspecting and gullible public in the form of retro-cars from the '40's. Yep, Zooker, and people are still buying them. Why would they stop? It's the same reason there's a Corvair fan club. (Hey, maybe we could.... nah, nevermind.)

Even Steve Jobs (bite my tongue, I didn't really mention something to do with the dreaded _ac on this forum, did I? Yikes!) tried to do away with the vaulted Floppy at one time, only to be met with the same consternation as some of your sympathizers on this thread. Although, if its any forebearance of the future, he did finally get his way.

So, why don't we all agree to do the same, and put up with the pesky little "Disk that Wouldn't Die," -- until it does. Cheers.

LMAO are you gonna put neons in too???

I only use them for updating the bios and how often do you buy a new mobo...

You should see the gold spoked rim I put on the outside of the drive wheel. It looks great with the flames, and the suped up internals makes that thing FLY.

I use them for RAID drivers, the occasional BIOS (most can be done within Windows now), and the odd other use.

Are you gonna put a chrome eject botton on as well? Why am I still asking, you're so pimped out that would have been the first thing you put on there...

Of course.

Ahh, the joys of watching a thread degenerate.

Don't you just love it. Wish I had time to derail a couple more thread a day, oh wait, this one was derailed from the start...

More Information

If its a decent thread, then I try not to screw it up too bad. Like you said, this started out on the wrong foot...

More Information

yeah, no sense in screwing up a useful thread. There are so many useless ones out there that you don't need to though.

More Information

sadly true.
