I'm not sure whether this should be here in the networking area or in the motherboard area.

What is the purpose of the dual ethernet feature on many motherboards, such as the Abit A9N Pro? Would I be able to connect it to my wired router, and then connect my wireless access point to the other one so my macbook can access the network wirelessly?

Most of the time dual nics are used for ICS. But you could use it for a AP or even a direct connect to a NAS.
