lol, and to display how i got an A+ in ~Hubris For Beginners~ i got an 1170 on the SAT's last year in 8th grade.

I couldn't help but say that.

HA HA! e-pissing contest...

I'm actually the only person I've ever heard of that threw away a perfect score in the math section (I took the test, KNEW every answer but one. If I had skipped it, BAM! 800. Instead, I guessed and missed it... 780 instead). Ended up with 1520 combined.

For what its worth, first time I took the test in SAT prep (10th grade a think) I got a 1210 I think. Of course, this was back when there were only two sections to the test. So you are definitely on the right track.

Then again, SATs were/are more about your ability to take tests than they are about actual intelligence.

DISCLAIMERI'm really not trying to brag. I know I am an arrogant, egotistical ass sometimes when it comes to my intelligence, but I try not to bring it up all that often or brag about it.

Damn verbal section screwed me up (that and the aforementioned not skipping a question). I wish I had known you could skip a question and still get an 800. Damn ego.

Not quite, what I meant is that I had 21 college credits already after graduating HS, and could have done college in three years instead of 4. Though I did start taking course for college credit in 11th grade (math, programming, and history I think). I just decided to retake a couple of courses in college (complete waste of time education wise, though thats were I met my wife, so it worked out all good).

Why do I feel like the oldest one here?

Reqs differ from state to state, but its 4 years of a foreign language, and demonstration of both academic excellence and extracurricular activities. Good SAT scores don't hurt either, but those are mainly for scholarships.

Reply to dasickninja

For what its worth to those of you looking at colleges, I got wait-listed at Carnegie Mellon (though I think that had a lot to do with a certain incident involving a suspension in HS, and the fact that I was applying for financial aid as a middle-class white male. More the suspension.) I ended up at PSU which has a pretty good computer science and engineering school. They have one of the top women in computer engineering as a professor. She specializes in lowering power consumption usage in processors and did a lot of work with Intel. She probably was at least a consultant for Pentium M and Conroe.

I decided I was sick of school and eschewed the whole Graduate School thing. Plus, someones got to earn the money. My wife's a PHD student at the moment. I may go back for one or more Grad degrees (Comp Sci or Comp Eng and possibly an MBA) eventually.

Reply to hergieburbur

My teachers told me to go for my masters, that way, I'll be able to go into teaching.

Reply to dasickninja

*Point's and laughs*

Reply to Everett

I think you would be a great teacher, you have tought me so much in the time I've been here, you should pursue that, besides, you'd be the coolest teacher ever if you took the evo to school :D

Reply to I_Love_Tacos

Absolutely. If you want to teach, thats the way to go. I was planning on going on further up until my last semester. I was even in our honors program that basically allowed you to write your own ticket to grad school. I just decided that since I wanted to either:
A) be my own bossB)Work as a consultantThat grad school wasn't the way to go at the time.

Thanks. But I think it would be more professional to take the S60R to school...

@hergieburbur
They told me to spend about three years in the field so I can get the hard experience and when I come back, they'll have a job for me. :)

Reply to dasickninja

That sounds about right. Most of the teachers I've had that never worked "in the field" were missing something...

Plus, if you do it right, you can always consult on the side while teaching. Thats where the money's at.

Reply to hergieburbur

In completely unrelated news, it looks like there is finally a deal in place to keep my beloved Pens in Pittsburgh! I've been waiting 7 years for this news, and hopefully it doesn't turn out to be more false hope.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Plus, this is about as far off topic as I though I could get. (whatever the topic here really is).

AND HOW THE HELL ARE YOU GUYS GETTING +4.0s?! do you really get THAT MUCH bonus?! my mind has been boggled. damn. i thought my 4.0 was somethign to be proud of....

Bonus? LOL, what kind of easy schools do you kids go to? We didn't have BONUS when I was in H.S. and we certainly don't in college! You either get an A+ or you don't. A+'s are RARE. You have to pretty much be a complete kiss ass.

I'm pulling a 3.0+ in college, halfway to my associates, part time. Everything we learn is strictly business. We don't do labs, we give presentations and write 10 page papers about corporate America, globalization, and management practices. Everything we learn is pretty much self taught, 3 hour class periods are just for lecturing about whatever the profs want, or learning about specific companies and how they run their business.

BTW, I keep narking on Taco because he's too well liked. He always jacks threads with personal crap. This was my thread, I didn't mean for it to turn into 10 pages about HS sports. It was to see if anyone else could come up with original ideas, and what you thought about mine...there's been a recent hardware "boom" in the computer industry, but we just got out of 5 years of very small hardware jumps. So to keep it real... Read Hergie's post above mine. :-P

Reply to JonnyDough

Yes but keep in mind that this entire thread is aimed at me, and he represents me as a carrier of the DaClan banner. Therefore, on a bad day I could construe that as you aiming at me.

Today though, is not a bad day...

For Surge and UPS's, APC is pretty much still the best. My dad used to be partnered with a guy that had a better circuit design than APC like 15-20 years ago. At the time, they were APCs main competitor in corporate environments. Could of been a millionaire, but the guy was an asshole and refused to make stackable battery packs, or any other improvements to his design. Lost out on some HUGE corporate contracts that way.

I have some small experience with recovery software, and there is a software package I usually recommend for it, but I can't remember what its called. EZRecovery or something like that.

I would have been kinda interested in a cooling fan review (I'm kind of a noise nut), but I just put in a 140mm high-blade-count case fan and a Scythe Ninja to go with my AeroCool2 VGA cooler. Now my Opteron maxes around 45C and is pretty much as close to completely silent as possible.

Reply to hergieburbur

Yeah, Tacos does hijack a lot. But its constructive hijacking. ;)

I'm SO pissed! Shouldn't an X1950GT be scoring higher in 3Dmark (05 AND 06) than my X1900 AIW card? Does it take into account the tv tuner and give it pts for that or something?

Reply to JonnyDough

The TV Tuner doesn't have anything to do with it. Are you looking at the total score, or the graphics subsection score? And isn't GT the indicator ATI uses for their lower end products?

So what you are saying is that just because sirheck and everette said high to me when I joined the thread, you are mad because they paid attention to me? Seems like a pathetic reason to me to always be flaming on me whenever you see me in a thread

Reply to I_Love_Tacos

hmm, well, they both use the same gfx processor, so it's up to how well clocked the two cards are
well looking at the all in wonder, the x1950gt has slightly higher clocks (550/1200 vs 500/960), so I would assume the gt would have better scores considering they both use the same r570 core, but I could be wrong on that

a review on computer chairs would be nice...seriously

 Hey,I,m lookin for one,I keep breaking the kitchen units(2 now)which are subbing until I find one(in the $20.00 range),my old lady is freaking.

that is really a personal opinion. =(comfort)

but on the build quality and looks and durability, sure.

if i was gonna spend 100 or more on a chair i would spend sometime
(in-store) and sit in it look it over, all that shstuff.

then make my own decision.

No, you're right. The mem clock is higher. Even with the variations in cards (The AIW was pretty much on target, with rounding to get the 500mhz, like they always do). Technically, the GT SHOULD be getting better benchies.

Yeah, hes a kool kat but I am sure he has better things to do than to test mouse pads. As far as tech info, Where's Wusy, Jumpingjack, 4Ryan6, thegreatgrapeape, verndewd, 1tanker, sirheck, ilovetacos, jakebarnes, prozac26, 3lfk1ng, turpit, anoobis, dasickninja, mpjessie, randomizer, dereck2006, crashman, & yes i will say it, baronmatrix.

Sorry for the guys i missed, but i have chops on the grill

*Goes to wipe the brown off his nose*

Bastard.

Reply to tool_462

hmm, then I don't see why you are getting lower benchies, all I can say is the drivers may not be as good for the gt yet

Reply to I_Love_Tacos

Hehe. :-) Yeah Taco, might be it. Although I wouldn't imagine they differ much from those of the X1950Pro... :-( They all kind of use the same Catalyst...

Reply to JonnyDough

Tacos is just a noob. End of story.

Pish. Sucker. The real world is overrated. :-P

Reply to JonnyDough

Just because they use the same drivers doesn't necessarily mean the drivers are as optimesd for the gt, since it's the newer card

and did I miss something? When did we start discussing how much of a newb I am :x

Reply to I_Love_Tacos

no, tool was the one that called me a newb first

Reply to I_Love_Tacos

are you running a movie theatre box? Because for my general uses, a stand up tower seems to be more appealing, but that is weird, and as you see, threads get hijacked very easily, I'm not just some person that goes around hijacking threads for the fun of it

Fo' shizzle' shiznit.

If your reppin west side, who are you supporting now that there aren't any good west coast rappers? And PLEASE don't say The Game (his name dropping and the MTV dating show appearance just kill his street cred).

Reply to hergieburbur

I'm running an FX-60 socket 939 full tower powerhouse, an FX-55 socket 939 mATX LAN party system, and a Pentium 4 HTPC. So the answer is yes, and I agree. :-)

Reply to JonnyDough

IMO, I think the fx's are too much (especially considering you can get the 5200 for $220 where as the fx-62 is almost $500 just because of the unlocked mults), but if you got the dough (no pun intended), then they're worth the unlocked mults. Anyways, thats cool how you have two fx machines, I can't even afford one

Reply to I_Love_Tacos

Alright, I know you were fooling around, but calling me a newb I thought was starting to cross my lines after all that I've been through from this thread

2Pac....

Goes without saying. Thankfully, he has enough great songs that it doesn't get old.

Quote :

Plus, listen to some of Game's mixtapes....

I can tolerate him sometimes, but I hate that he drops names of people he probably never even met (like EZ-E, he acts like they were tight).

Of course, out here they play Dipset to death, which gets old real fast.

Though Hot 97 did play a 4 hour BIG marathon the other day (anniversary of his death) that was pretty good.

I could pretty much listen to Pac, BIG, and Jay all day (if you mix in a few other good CDs).

Reply to hergieburbur

Yeah, I just had two hours of baseball tryouts, and then I have another hour and a half in another hour

Reply to I_Love_Tacos

I agree, why buy a fx60 when you could just oc a 4400, 4600, or even an opty for that matter and have the same clock speed of the 60. :?

Reply to Everett

Exactly my thoughts, but in 939, the others couldn't oc as high as the 60, where as in am2 they all oc as high as the 62
