So a fact that AMD has already learned, it seems that Apple is going to get pushed a bit by the gorilla.

Intel to compete with iPhone

It looks like since Samsung is the provider of chips for the iPhone instead of Apple's new favorite CPU company, Intel is offering to supply competitors with their own chips to beat down the iPhone. Interesting to say the least.

I wonder what company they'll get grumpy with next. A Microsoft endorsement of AMD chips as the best things for Vista could really get Intel irritated. :D

That's not being "Grumpy", that's called business.

Can you say "Doesn't play well with others?" Apple is a partner.

I guess it's Amdows (am - doze) now instead of Wintel.

So Intel can only make CPUs for Apple??? It isn't Intel's fault you have a shitty AMD processor in your computer, so what is with the stupid thread?

That's very clever... it sure seems like that's what AMD is doing, dozing off while Intel rolls right on past (over) them. Hope they wake up soon.

maybe it will push AMD and Apple into bed. Then we can see green apples on the market

8O

OMG... Ignorant foolish Apple loyalty meets diehard vicious AMD fanboyism- what a scary combination.

Apple wont ever buy cpus from AMD,becouse apple is a "high roller" company, by that i mean they dont play with companies that they consider lower class...and compared to intel and ibm, amd is very lower class

The thread was bad enough to begin with, and then you decided to make it worse by posting.

Do they have some obligation to only make chips for Apple? That's like saying, since AMD went Dell, they can only make stuff for Dell

I don't think so since Apple has just stopped using HyperTransport.

it has nothing to do with reality, only image. Apple survives on its image. They wont ever pair themselves with a company who doesnt have an image of being a giant in its field, they are to concerned about what working with smaller companies will do to their image,to consider what it might do for their product catalog

Meh, I think it all stems down to that Apple survives on the stupidity of its consumers.

Geek words and corporate image are 2 different things.
Why do you think Intel are top? "Dumb" consumer knows who Intel are.
It's already been explained in this thread anyway.

As a kid I used to be a big Apple fan. Their strength is in product interaction/user-friendliness; underlying technology is not their ultimate goal. In many cases, it's too cumbersome for a PC vendor to compete with Apple in this regard because Apple can smoothly integrate designs into the OS and hardware at the same time, whereas a PC vendor would have to collaborate with many suppliers to accomplish the same. It's also much easier for Apple to switch core technologies - I recall it has done so twice, once to PowerPC and another to Intel x86.

Intel here is offering a mobile phone processor, but there are already quite a few out there, and they don't really make or break a cell phone. It's up to some mobile phone giant to decide that Intel's processor is best and then to write some good firmware around it - because they are the ones who will be competing with Apple. Considering that Apple has migrated their entire OS twice, who's to say they can't change the iPhone processor to Intel's in the future?

I don't view this announcement as a threat to Apple, really.
