Let me get this straight.

E4300
Pros:
Budget overclocking!
Look at the multiplier...
Fear the cheaper ram!
More perfected creation process because I'm newer?

Cons:
Monster vcore!
No assured 3ghz for you!

E6300
Pros:
Better chance to hit those high markings!
Fear the lower vcores.
Eat my performance advantage with my higher FBS!
More perfected creation process because I'm older?

Cons:
$10 more expensive & requires better RAM

Yes. Other than that don't anthropomorphize the CPUs

Actually you made me rethink my decision to buy an E4300. if they aren't a guaranteed 3Ghz+ then I'd gladly pay $10 more dollars for it. I was already getting more expensive RAM because I'm planning on upgrading CPUs later and I'm futureproofing.

sorry for hijacking the thread...

:( just got the E4300 yesterday and I'm happy about it...

I'm just mad at myself with my motherboard choice though.. Epox P965 gli

I wish I'd gotten the gigabyte 965 s3, dang i feel so stupid..

I'm currently calling up the shop where I bought it, I hope they have the gigabyte mobo in stock!

To be sure, 3GHz is not guaranteed with either chip. My impression from this and other forums, though, is that it is easier to hit 3Ghz with less voltage and (cpu) heat with the E6300 than with the E4300. Simply put, there seem to be more people having trouble hitting 3Ghz on the E4300 chips even with the lower FSB frequencies. Those that do hit 3GHz+ often require more cpu voltage than I would be comfortable with.

The E6300 does require better memory and higher FSB frequencies. A Gigabyte DS3 and some DDR2 800 memory that overclocks a *little* usually gets you there, though. It's what I did, and I got 3GHz.

Regardless of what anyone says, each chip presents its own set of problems. I plan on getting a 4300 and BSEL/padmod the thing to 266FSB, a 30% overclock, on a cheap ECS motherboard with DDR 3200 memory. That's something that I can do with the 4300 that is not possible with the 6300!

You know NOTHING of CPU's, so let me tell u why the E4300 is FAR superior to the E6300.

The E4300 has a 9x multiplier while the E6300 has a 7x multiplier.
This means that the E4300 can overclock just as well if not better than the E6600. Not only that but it costs LESS than the E6300.

The RAM is not cheaper. You can find DDR2-667 for the same price as DDR2-533. And the FSB is not lower because the whole point is to overclock. If u want to leave it at stock, then get an AMD processor because ur not good enough for Core 2 Duo.

So just to emphesize - there is NO reason to buy the E6300 or E6400, when the E4300 is as good as the E6600 and costs LESS money than both.

Good Day.

Some people have trouble overclocking the E4300. No need to be so acidic in helping him :?

Go ahead.

The E4300 has a 9x multiplier while the E6300 has a 7x multiplier.
This means that the E4300 can overclock just as well if not better than the E6600. Not only that but it costs LESS than the E6300.

OBJECTION! Most E6600s eclipse the E4300 in terms of stable OC.

The RAM is not cheaper. You can find DDR2-667 for the same price as DDR2-533. And the FSB is not lower because the whole point is to overclock. If u want to leave it at stock, then get an AMD processor because ur not good enough for Core 2 Duo.

I was mostly looking at DDR2-667 and DDR2-800. The difference is marginal.

So just to emphesize - there is NO reason to buy the E6300 or E6400, when the E4300 is as good as the E6600 and costs LESS money than both.

I won't say as good as the E6600 and the E6300/E6400 can have higher OC headroom.

Good Day.
