Getting a job and actually earning the money is harder than you think. Of course you being older (guessing 16) it is far easier for you to find a job, but still, you have to work a crap load of hours, and then there's taxes, and while the prospect of getting tons of money seems cool, know how much work it requires

And not fair, I got recommended to goiong to garage sale, $1300 is insane, are your parents rich or something? My dad makes a good $120k a year, but still, he forces me to work

What would going to a garage sale accomplish? Finding cheap computer parts? Garage sales are few and far between in san francisco. My mom is an antique dealer, so estate sales, antique stores, huge warehouses full of crap 3 times older then me, all commomplace in my life. As a result i hate all old things (Besides vintage computers.).

Ann Arbor Michigan = many garage sales, plus my dad motto is that if its less than $5, it's good. So I think he just wanted me to save my money and not build a computer

Heh, Michigan = garage sales. Everyone is moving. Automakers here are caput. Oh and hey...anyone want to buy the green Zalman 9500? I'll beat any new price. It's unused and wouldn't fit in the build I wanted to use it in. Anyone?

I'll give you $3.50. Thats pretty much what a 9500 is worth if you can get a tuniq tower 120 or scythe infinity.

Wish my dad was that wealthy. Both mom and dad aren't passing the 35K a year. :( Well most of time the most precious thing in our home is my PC :) Well that's life. At least i'm 19 so i don't use their money to enjoy my hobby. In my last build (which of course is vanished months before now) i spend about 2500 euros and my parents part was about 400.

I thought thermalright would have put better material in their sinks, looks like newegg is wrong again

I'm not sure what you mean. Their combination is pretty much the same as others. They just nickel-plate the copper base for looks. The copper base is great at absorbing heat, but not so great at releasing it. That's where the heat-pipes and aluminum fins come in as aluminum releases heat much better than copper.

Clue69Less could probably elaborate on it better than I could.

newegg advertises it as completely aluminum, so what I meant was that I was sure that thermalright used copper instead of pure aluminum

I thought that aluminum was used because it is cheaper and lighter than copper. I have seen some literature about variation of heat transfer from different metals to air but if memory serves, the shape of the HS fins and the particulars of how the air flow is delivered overwhelm the differences between metals when all else is held constant. See:

Glad you piped in here to clear things up. I wasn't too certain about the difference in materials myself. There was a thread awhile back that discussed this topic. IIRC, someone stated that heat loss of different materials was one reason for using aluminum for the fins and copper for the base and pipes. However, I think your ideas of cost and weight hold more water and make more sense.
