Thecus has been back-ordered and unable to supply product. The logjam finally broke and they have product. But it will be a few weeks before you see a review.
Our company purchased a Thecus N5200 Pro (RouStar) and installed 5 Seagate ST3500630NS for 2,384 MB usable capacity.
It's been running non-stop RAID 5 since May 07, (2.5 years+) with no drive failures, crashes or loss of data. Its’ functions are everything from on site backup, software installation package deployment, PXE server, marketing storage, media viewing, ftp server, NetCam file store.
This model has bank of 4 10/100 ports & 1 GBit port which are role reversible LAN/WAN.
The LAN throughput is very acceptable for using one of the 10/100 ports.
RAID 0,1, 5, JBOD
The only hang up is the LAN config does not have a default gateway setting nor a routing table that you can add static routes to. What this means is, if your user is not on the same subnet, he cannot access the NAS through your LAN unless you stick a router between the N5200 LAN port and the next Switch, then use 1-to-1 NAT and set static routes on the router. A bit of a hassle for something Linux builds have been able to do since the dawn of Timex. I.E. The NAS does not know how to return network requests to anyone not on the same local network range.
