I'm on vacation now in Rocky Point, Mexico, so when I get back in a day or two i'll try it. But I'm pretty sure that I seated it correctly, and I followed the instructions on Artic Silvers website. Oh well, i'll try again.

Too much compund is no good and can reduce cooling. But the clips usually hold the heatsink down so tight that excess oozes out and makes a mess.

Use a razor blade scraper to take off the pink pad. Clean it off good without scratching. The left over residue can be removed with goo gone or something similar. Put a dab of compound on the cpu die and spread it thin using the razor blade. Do not spread the compound on the heatsink or you'll have it all over even where it doesn't contact the cpu and make a mess. Install the heatsink, clamp iot, then remove it and look at the heatsink. If you see a nice square of compound it means you proibably got it installed good.

Good luck. And the cooling should improve a bit with time as the compound heats up and sort of melts into place. Over time compound should be cleaned off and replaced. Every 6 months or year or so.

Good luck.

Liquid cooling is definately worth it I just installed my gigabyte galaxy 2 system and It keeps my 4800 x2 nice and cool at Fx-62 speeds it also keeps my 1900xtx (749/855) nice and cool at only 45 celcius under full load. My proc
would be higher then 2.8 but my crappy mobo can't go over 1.4v.....
