So, I was minding my own business  and I just happend to overhear a conversation between two of my friends about xbox360 and how great they think it is. So I jump in and tell them that consoles are for ignorant people who have not yet been exposed to the superiority of a pc that actually works. So they all of a sudden go on the defensive and start saying how xbox has 3 cores and it pwns any pc because their daddy bought them a dell and it didnt impress them. 3 F#@#ing CORES!!! How do I argue against 3 CORES???? I know pc's will own 1,000,000,000 ps3's put together but how do I argue against them? Its more than just knowing, but how do I win an argument without boring them with the technicals? Thanks. :)

If you like consoles better than pc's then I can understand. I too liked n64 better than any pc when I was 5, but thats ok. You go buy a wii now and wave your little fairy wands.

heh.... good luck with that, the console fan's are usually too ignorant to accept that a high end pc beats out their console... no matter what arguement is presented...

Haha, your friends sound like their 10. The xbox has 1 Processor SPLIT into 3 cores. Any PC drastically kicks any console on the market and makes it cry home to Big tough Mommy Corporations.

And yes, N64 did own when it came out, and the Wii kicks butt too :D

lol, assuming these people can count just show them a quad core.
Then proceed to say "STFU you ignorant twats! Just how do you think they even design consoles???? WITH FUCKING COMPUTERS!!!"

As you can tell I really do sympathise with you here.

lol to the wii wand gag, will point that out next time i see one. :D

i have a decent computer, and do occasionally play computer games...

i happen to prefer the gameplay of consoles.

i havent found a pc shooter that beats halo 2 in the fun factor. i like being able to play with 3 other friends on the same screen.

thats why ill be gettting 360 this xmas. i understand perfectly well that the gfx will get smoked by my computer, just id rather game on a console.not to mention all my friends play on Live, so id rather play with ppl i know than those i dont.

but to anyone who has played it, you have to admit halo 2 is fun as hell. madden is also a classic that falls apart on a computer

its sort of like politics, everyone has theyre mindset and its almost completely impossible to change the way someone feels, no matter how ridiculous they think. so its usually best to just let people wallow in theyre ignorance, i know its hard but in the end you know how you feel and thats all that matters. besides, the bridge between consoles and pcs is closing fast and soon they will be one and the same. a few years ago things like online multiplayer, dvd players, downloadable content like maps etc, downloadable mutimedia like videos, and alot of other things were strictly the domain of pcs until the about the time the xbox came out. can you imagine what the playstation4 or xbox4 or whatever will be like? it will probly have something like a quad core core 2, a 8800 series gpu, DDR3 ram and will probly cost over a grand and at that point theyre will be no difference between a console and a pc. so you see, pcs will win by default lol

What you do is do a google for Crysis screenshots and show them to your friends and say this is the future of PC gaming for 2007. You then tell him the PC is rubbish because PC graphcis are now at the point were the human eye can no longer tell the differance between real life and computer generated.

Yes Halo 2 is fun. I remember getting it the day it was released and completing it on the hardest setting in just a few days, then logging on to the message boards seeing people posting it was impossible to beat this game on the hardest... I didn't even bother to tell them otherwise. There is no credibility on message boards.

When Halo 3 comes out I will consider getting the XBOX 360.

It all depends how one goes about arguing with console geeks. Perhaps you didn't go about it the right way, and besides, you should have said consoles nowadays are more akin to PCs than ever before. Come on, look at the specs for the Xbox 360, practically a pc with customised chips, that's all. Besides, you should also point out the reason why Crysis isn't gonna be a console game (because its graphics engine pwns all the consoles' graphics chips. So no Crysis for Xbox 360, PS3 or Wii likewise... though a Wii Crysis, if done well, would be awesome). And also, saying that consoles are rubbish doesn't help... they fill a niche in the games market, and they do well at what they are supposed to do, whereas a PC is a multi-purpose machine (nothing beats a decent PC in terms of features). However, I do want a console, but that console is a Wii, since IMHO, it is how consoles should have been about... immersion and fun instead of trying to compete with PCs. So, if you have to butt into people's ignorant conversations, make sure you are loaded with the right 'ammo' so you can always be sure to counter whatever argument they put forward. However, be sure not to over-do it, otherwise you'll be seen as being ignorant too.

Theres an ignorant person at my school that thinks the Wii owns all other gamesystems including xbox360, PS3, and computer. He even thinks the gamecube creams the original xbox. You can argue with him forever and he won't change his mind. For people like that I say to just let them be. Might as well as be talking to a brick wall they don't understand anything. I even gave him a printout of specs and stuff and what people are saying. He told me that they were misinformed retards.

Wait, wait. This person thinks they're more fun/a better gaming experience, or he thinks the graphics are better? Two very different things...

can we not go on about this AGAIN

on this messageboard, those who prefer the PC will always outnumber console fanboys - the result would be very different if you posted that same message on a 360 board

Im now bored of this topic, bored bored bored

Reply to parge

We never talked about the games. He just went on about how superior it is to others. Hes been a die hard Nintendo fanboy since like the second grade.

Here was a fun thread started by a PS3 fanboy awhile ago

http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/PS3-HIGH-END-PC-ftopict175675.html

There are a lot of links to good articles which explain how pathetic the next gen cpus really are.

Basically, the xbox 360s 3 core proc is extremely stripped down, according to one of the articles, it's roughly only twice as fast as the original xbox's cpu and can't even compare to an athlon 64 or a pentium 4.

Reply to turboflame

Ya people are calling it the Xbox 1 1/2. It's pretty pathetic. At least the graphics are good.

Make sure that you also tell them the developers of Crysis said that these next-gen consoles are too crappy to run it.

See, those kinds of kids who believe that deserve to get a beating......

Reply to enforcerfx

LMAO. He really does he lives with his grandparents and gets away with everything. I don't think he ever did his homework yet.

Reply to derek2006

Just as you guys are complaining of the ignorance of console people, you are ignorant of console hardware. The Xbox, nevermind the PS3, is not a PC and you cannot compare the numbers directly. The Xbox may not be a pc killer, but for the price it can't be beat right now, and the ps3 has more pure number crunching ability than any pc this side of 3000$--and its actual gaming performance will only improve as development tools get released and programmers adjust to the different mentality that you are incapable of understanding.

PCs in generally will continue to progress past these console slowly, but for the time being the Xbox is a nice piece of hardware and the PS3 is nothing short of amazing from a computational stand point. You guys are doing EXACTLY what you are complaining about console people--coming to conclusions without trying to understanding the other side AT ALL.

* sits back and waits for someone to tell jessewmc that the PS3 "RSX" GPU is not quite as powerful as 7800GTX - according to the manufacturer of the "RSX", nVidia *

Though they did retract that statement, apparently. Still, I think they did say the "RSX" was pretty much the same as a 7800GTX, only a little faster.

Reply to NotAPimecone

Well, as you can see they think they know everything. Sometimes I just want to have them beaten with reeds until they admit they are wrong  Honestly, the only reason I would want to play a console is maybe 4 friends playing smash bros. melee for fun. But to those who said consoles are becoming more like pc's are right in many respects.

Can't wait for 8 core amd dual soc platform. That will be pretty sweet.

Reply to AlexIrvine

I do agree that the Xbox 360 is a great system for the price. However it's people that say it is better than any pc and no matter what you say they won't believe you that piss me off. And the Cell really doesn't have as much power as once believed. In single precision it is 25.6 GFlops it was advertised as like 256 or so all SPE's enabled and at 4ghz. PS3 has 1 SPE disabled and runs at 3.2 ghz. Core 2 Duo 3ghz can do 42Gflops. In double precision it reaches only 14GFlops. The core 2 Duo 3ghz can do 24 GFlops in double precision. So the Core 2 Duo has twice the pure number crunching power. I think it's you that don't fully understand.
