I'd actually argue that for many the tweaking, troubleshooting upgrading, etc, etc is all part of the fun of PC gaming. Last night I got home from work and didn't have enough time to really get into a game so instead I played around with my CPU and memory settings to see if I could squeeze a little extra performanc out of my rig. It's very similar to somebody who builds hot rods. They spend more time building, fixing and tweaking their cars then actually taking them out on the road, does that make there hobby any less fun. No! To come to a PC hardware site and post "8800 GTX chocking on Rainbow 6 Vegas?? Buying xbox360" is pretty stupid as is all the people who complain "it cost too much" or "it's to hard to get games to work right". I don't go to XBox sites and say "your graphics suck, buy a $2000 PC" because I know nobody there is interested in that. I'd say most people here are savy enough, have good enough machines and are into PC gaming enough that coming here whining about it rather then asking for help gets you only what you deserve.

Well, since I come from a background of trying to get Wing Commander 1 and Wolfenstein working back in the day, games of 2006 don't seem all that frustrating to me. I remember when I had to create boot disks to run games, and even then things were sketchy .

the game will always run wiuth the default settings at start.
and while most newer games autodetect your hardware, rainbowsix vegas doesnt set the options automatically...

also, to the dumbass who claimed that the GTX 8800 has "128 shader units"
read some, get informed, then COMMENT....
they're unified shaders, wich means they can be programed to act as a variety of stuff, so they're not only "FOR SHADING" (thus you cant compare a unified shader gpu with a gpu like the current ATI . with specialized parts.

Damn man. You just played the whole game as if it were on a PS2 8O Sucks. Go into nView and force AA/AF and High Quality. You won't have to screw with them again except the game sided features.

Wing Commander, Wolfenstein... Those were the days!!!! Remember when you had to have that extra 10 Kilobytes of free ram to play the game and you spent so much time just to get that...!!!! Lucky my computer then was much tougher, if you know what I mean...

And don't even get me started about what happened when I got my first SoundBlaster and wanted to hear speech in Wing Commander 2!!!!!!!

You are wrong. It was not hard. It was REALLY hard!!! And don't think there was in-game speech or anything fancy like that! It was just in the introductory cut-scenes (remember those ???? We used to be awed by them!!!). And of course all these needed about 10 megabytes of hard drive space if I remember correctly. And this was IF you had a hard drive back then...
And now look, kids arguing about consoles and pcs and which one has better graphics and which one is better. The best one is the one you like the most!!! Whether you stay up trying to get it to work 1% faster of by playing with your friends in the living room in front of your TV. Stop argueing about these stuff dammit it's pointless!!!!
