Hey guys. I had an issue that started last year with my video card, and I was wondering if ANYONE ran into it before. I watercool my CPU, Video Card, and Northbridge, and I've installed a few 120mm fans to cool of the VREG's of my ATI X1900 and the MOSFETS of my mobo. Here's the issue. When the video card is initializing after the WindowsXP splash screen, or after I am already in windows, my video card will LOSE it's signal and never come back until I restart. After MUCH troubleshooting, 3 new power supplies, a multiple configs and etc I have found the culprit. My VREG's. When they drop below 43C my video card loses signal and I have a lengthy restart process until the temps for my VREG's on my video card return to 45C+. Now...how the HELL could this be?! I see waterblocks for x1900 VREG's! So wtf am I doing wrong? Is this common? Is my card faulty, or is it just a whiney SOB that didn't get milk and cookies before bedtime?

BTW ambient in my room is 15-20C during the winter, so it takes a LOOOONG time to gt my VREG temps up so my PC will boot in the winter.

I made a mistake. The temperature my VREG's drop the signal is 42C, but my computer will not boot into WindowsXP if my VREG temps are below 47C.

Those are good temps. You ever tried safe-mode?

Yes. I have no problem booting into Safe-mode. I "think" this may be because the devise drivers are not loaded, but the default drivers for Windows are loaded, so there is significantly less power draw, or the VREG's aren't as important, or both. I am by far not an expert, but yes I have tried safe-mode and the problem does not occur in safe-mode.

then you have a driver issue, use the catalyst driver remover program. it gets all the hidden driver files that the normal uninstall doesnt to.

install 6.11

also a quick note, if you install the wrong sound drivers it will make your video drivers mess up. so check that. directx9 sucks

Why have you had this same problem and 6.11 fixed it? Because I have done this through each release (6.4-6.11) with no fix. I will try and remove everything fully and reinstall it, but I doubt at this point it will help issue :(.

Nope I did the full wipe again and installed 6.11, but of course no luck. Video card still loses signal when VREG's are cooler than 43C.
