It should increase the speed overall and you should notice some FPS increases. Sometimes not much but it still helps. This leads to the aged old question of: "Should i OC my <insert parts here> for a slight performance increase?"

BTW the 6600 is ancient I suggest you get a new card 8O

It depends on whether or not you can return (assuming it's new) the current one and get a new one.
Get a new one, or if you're truly stuck with that one.
If, in fact, you are truly stuck with it, then by all means, oc it, it's worth a shot.
If anything you have the advantage of having a nice heatsink on it and may... let me stress MAY be able to get some mileage more out of it by OCing it some especially by adding a fan to it somehow.

Your Lucky because your card is the DDR2 version which has a much higher clocked ram.. Also I have clacked my VGA but only a little..

ALSO:

n0odle: the card isn't ancient its just older. I still can play all the new games... on medium and some on High... Not bad for a 2004 midrange card.

alright thanks. Yeah for now this card is serving very wellon Call of duty 2 on all high,Americas army high ,and oblivion on high and some medium. But eventually prolly mid 07 i will be considering a better Gfx card because of Unreal Tournament 2007 Coming out.

Yes If I am able to afford a better card I will do the same :)

I had a BFG 6600 GT OC and it overclocked very well. Run some game benches and then max your OC and see how much it helps. I was able to push 8-14% more FPS, still have the Excel spreadsheet with my numbers in it :P

8-14% may not seem like much, but when it is pushing you over the 60FPS mark it is nice.

alright cool. do you know where i could get the game benchmarks for cOD2 or AA->america's army?

I have to mention this dude always have the best of the best in cooling for ocing but thats up to you. Pixshaders are easy to distroy if ocing is more than the cooler can cool.

I am impressed that you are able to run oblivion with any visuals enabled. I have an x850xt OCed and oblivion is barely playable with medium settings.

hmm. I am not sure what it is then with my card haha. >_< But yes it does run the oblivion quiet well.
