It was basicly a MP3 player of its time. Though it sounded alot better to me and losing all the sounds you cant hear anyways doesnt bother me much.

Soon we will all be old and wont be able to tell how bad the quality is cause we lost our hearing listening to rock 'n' roll MP3s on our Ipods with the stupid bud headphones that make us turn up the volume too much.

...and our sight will have deteriorated so much because we're on the computer a lot and didn't eat enough carrots that it won't matter what hi-def we watch.

Blu-Ray all the way. Why?

Blu-Ray is more verbally efficient. Can you imagine saying "Aitch Dee Dee Vee Dee" all the time?!?!? :?

Wow, this thread started long ago.
But to just give my personal answer to that, if I had to choose at the time before any side "won", I'd have gone with HD-DVD.
For movies that is... I think it's more than enough for the quality.
However, I do not know exactly how much is needed for all the high-quality video and audio, plus on top of that extra material besides the movie.
Then I do not really mind extra discs included, of course all material in one is still handier.

So then the answer would be, HD-DVD only if it can hold enough.
And I would go with Blu-Ray for storage purposes, that way both media have their own purpose.
Then again, of course, it's handy to just have one type for everything.

I would have really liked to see HD-DVD as a logic follow-up to the DVD.
But I guess higher capacity is needed, so enter Blu-Ray.
And since it's now the leading medium and it looks like HD-DVD won't have as many titles, I of course will have to go with Blu-Ray.

However, I must say, I freaking hate the "blu" boxes for the movies.
I would have rather seen them in simply black again (even the HD-DVD-red is better) and then with a "blu" (maybe with a little silver) logo saying 'Blu-Ray' or something.
And what I hate even more are the alternate covers they create for Blu-Ray.
Trying to make it all look special by using a different image than the default movie-poster.
Especially when adding text like "The Ultimate High-Def Experience!" and crap like that.
I don't want that promotional stuff on my movies, I just want to see what that movie is about.

And about the following:

"Blu-Ray all the way. Why?

Blu-Ray is more verbally efficient. Can you imagine saying "Aitch Dee Dee Vee Dee" all the time?!?!? :?"

Blu-Ray is a much more ridiculous name than HD-DVD.
If HD-DVD would have followed up the DVD, you wouldn't even have to start using "HD-DVD" if it would be the standard, you could simply keep using "DVD".
Sure in the beginning it's usually wondering which one someone means.
But eventually it would probably turn out to be mostly HD-DVD.
Still you can say DVD...

Maybe you could even say DVD to Blu-Ray since it's a similar technology, but it's even more confusing now.
And even though now it is Blu-Ray, I personally hate the name, I will be using 'BRD' or 'BD'.
I'm really not going around saying like "I hav dat on blooray. Do yoo hav dat on blooray?".
It even sounds childish... -_-'
