Hi,

I m using Dell Axim X5 for building a PDA application
but facing some security threats.
once password is set , It serves as 'power on password ' .

But as of now there is no utility , which enforces that ,
this password is to be set before User starts using PDA .

Win CE 5.0 provides various APIs for creating custom
applications as per the desired security features.

so can we upgrade PPC 2002 or 2003 to Win CE 5.0
if yes then how???

Pls help

Thanks & Regards

Vandana,

As far as I know, there has been no offical announcement of which OEMs - if
any - will offer an upgrade to WM2005 when it is available. The best thing
to do would to be to monitor Dell's website and see what they have to say
when it comes out (I think sometime in the June/July timeframe).

Do not be surprised if they do not offer an upgrade. Most OEMs did not
offer them when WM2003 was released nor when WM2003SE was released.

Regards,

I have managed to flash my old iPAQ hx4700 with WM6.2. I think some guy ripped it off of some HTC phone and patched it up with hp drivers prolly from the iPAQ 210, not sure, don't remember. He put it all into a .bin file which was ready to flash as it were via USB.

If your lucky some dude may have done the same thing with your PDA as well. The 4700 sticks out since it was one of the fastest PDAs in the market when it came (Intel XScale PXA270) which is yet considerably faster than any of the latest HTC phones, so it still has proper hardware to run later versions of WM. I think the website was xda-developers.com but it could have been some place else.
