maybe just bang your head against the wall instead... :?:

Who knows... If you'd bought this new Nvidia card and then saw how much better the upcoming ATI DX 10 card is (in theory) you'd still be thinking.."I should have waited....". just my two cents.

ok, i agree that at some point you're gonna have to make the buy, but you should have seen DX10 coming...
i think that in most cases, waiting for the next generation isnt' always worth it, but this was a total revolution....

Surely the question is do you think that you got value for money.

The card you have cost what? roughly half that of the latest and greatest... Do you get half as much performance with it?

Depends on what you paid for it. Granted, the GTS is priced pretty similarly to the X1950XTX, but your card isn't bad. It still performs well. Play the games that you want to play. If it's doing fine, then don't worry about it. The first gen card usually have tons of room for improvment anyway. The second gen cards will probably be fine if you want to upgrade then.

There's really no "winning" in technology. Something always comes along that's better. Just buy when you feel you need something better to play the game that you want to play.

Agreed with the others. Don't always wait for "the next best thing" because there is always going to be new technology on the horizon.

X1950XTX is going to kick some ass for quite awhile still, even the G80 isn't greatly outperforming the current stuff at normal gaming resolutions.

Like the card you have if it does what you want it to do. I have a 7800GT and it plays the games I want at the resolutions I want at max settings. I see no reason to upgrade for myself, 75fps looks the same as 150fps to me :)

How much did you pay?

If you paid more than $400, then yes slitting your wrists would be the best thing to do.

No, by the time DX10 becomes a factor newer and better cards (8900s, and R600s) become available, you're fine. Yes, the 8800s are better, but the X1950XTX is a great card.

I got the card for 250$ the catch was I needed to also buy the crossfire version as well for another 350$

So I have a crossfired 1950XTX setup for 500 bones.

It should be awesome :) I just wont have the bells and whistles and realistic supermodels!

Now I build this thing TONIGHT!!! All the parts are at home.. and I am nervous because its on a P5W board and I have heard horror stories.. not only that but Newegg has alot of mixed reveiws on the OCZ Platinum Revision memory I ordered.

Is 2 GB good enough for memory with those cards? I am going to be running it with a E6700 C2D

How much did you pay for your card? And what os you running? If you payed less than 300 for it then don't worry. If you use xp and not vista, then don't worry. The x1950xtx is a very nice card and although it only supports dx9.0c and not dx10,it still offers excellent performance per dollar.I would not worry as the dx10 cards are just coming out and need time to drop in price and flood the market a bit more.Goodluck.

$250 + $350 = $500?!?

You need to slit your wrists because you live in a world of numbers and clearly they're getting the better of you.

You are correct.. I seem to hate my 2 and 3 keys.. 250/250 for 500

Happy smarty pants? :P

If you got 2 1950XTXs for 500, then don't worry about it. You can always upgrade in a year.

I'd enjoi it while you can until dx 10 comes out, but other than that, WOW dude, strange how you didnt hear of dx10. If I was you id get a mid range GFX, and sell that XTX ASAP before the prices drop on that card, get as much money back while you still can. But thats just mu opinion :D

AS for the slit my wrist, if you cut too deep, finger motion goes out the window, so no more pc gaming for you.

I think you got a decent deal. One thing about direct x 10 that seems to always be lost is that most at least IMO of the new eye candy things that are supposed to go along with DX10 can be accomplished on DX9 hardware with great coding. I only have one example but look at most of the Crysis vids. Most if not all, excluding the newest one which could possibly be running on DX10 hardware, are all running on DX9 hardware. And you still get the stunning graphics. Yes the new 8800gtx will spit out huge FPS on every current game save for oblivion which it still kicks ass at, but other than the internal changes being made current hardware excluding the 8800gtx can run the upcoming games looking just as good (not at super high res but thats what the new GPU's are for) if the games are coded well. Take for example the movie Toy Story it was all rendered on hardware over 10 years old now but it still made amazing looking graphics, could that have been done real time no but that is proof that changes in DX whatever are not really all that important it is more important that the GPU's are getting more powerful able to render higher quality stuff real time and the game makers are able to come up with better looking visuals.

IMO DX10 is not some huge revolution that is going to change the way games are played or whatever you want to say. It is a tiny tiny player in the progression of game and graphic possibilities. What always must be remembered is that it is the game maker who will make a better looking game not microsoft. (I don't include aTI and nVidia since they make the hardware to produce what the game maker envisions)

Can't anyone on here get their info straight? You don't slit your wrists across the tendons fool, you find the artery and slit that going between the tendons....!
