Well...that's because some of us really had it with M$ dubious dealings when it comes to the end-user. Ok, I give you that Vista might be a killer OS, but by the 3rd time that you had changed a piece of hardware on your system and the OS tells you that you need to purchase another license I would like to see your reaction!

Once again, I'm not picking up on you...just that you brough it up.

[Going off-topic even further]: That's the same in XP, so I'm not sure the argument works within the framework of XP vs. Vista comparison. And that's, really, the only valid framework for 99% of users with respect to Vista.

You're forgetting Relic Entertainment, developer of Dawn of War and more importantly, Company of Heroes.

I plan on building a quadcore with SLI or Crossfire next spring, and I can't wait to see my FPS in Zork.

In response to RB9269's post : You are my hero!

I really don't understand what all the fuss about windows vista is. I hate the way they feel they have to change the GUI. As it is, (to borrow from an old saying) "it ain't broke" so they damn well "shouldn't fix it".

I wonder how resource intensive this new OS will be with all the 'eye candy' turned off? I really think people shouldn't be forced to upgrade all of their hardware just to use something stupid like notepad or excel, or better yet TO LOOK AT THE DAMN DESKTOP. I can understand that some people may like the new looks and effects, but I really don't think they are anything to write home about. I just think that if there is any reason to upgrade to a new OS, it should be because it enables you to do more with your computer, not because it looks different ( cringes at remembering windows 98 vs win95).

This discussion belongs in a separate thread, so I don't want to get into it that much. Suffice it to say that yes, it's a scam, and no, you will most likely upgrade if you're a gamer within 12 to 18 months. If not sooner.

I'm just too much of a FF junkie. busy playing my 5th different one now. From 7 to X-2 I like 8 the most.

Anyhow, I'm surprised no one has mentioned TOCA 3. I haven't played Gran Turismo 2 so I can't compare but TOCA was really great. I miss the Grand Prix game for PC. Space sims, I just loved Privateer. Got it again just the other day. Playing it in dosbox. Using a dos sim to play a space sim

Isn't your DOS sim too slow? I tried running Betrayal at Krondor (LOVE that story, wanted to try again) and it was beyond sluggish on my X2 3800. I was really bummed.

More Information

Yeah it was very slow in the beginning. Did you OC dosbox (the only app I know that can OC - well, that's how the program states it)? I didn't know bout it in the beginning but read the readme coz I thought it was TOO slow and tried looking for some setting or something and found that you could OC it. I think it's F12 or something (haven't used it in some time).

Thx, I'll have to try that

Let me know how it goes.
