I wish I spent less time gaming and more time doing other things?

Eh, My post is meant to reply shaba320 ( whatever his name is ) Lol. crap. And verndewd, Lol, sorry mate, I don't understand your post, mind rephrasing?

More Information

I got a feeling shaba is just trying to either attract attention in a stupid manner or he recently played online and got pwned by hardcore gamers, so decided to rant in here abt hardcore gamers lol.

Lol, they probably felt that its best to spend their time playing more than replying to an attention-seeker :)

Whats the difference if someone has a hobby playing video games or anything else?

Many people need hobbies and being a PC gamer is not an evil thing, no more than say a motor head who spends every free penny fixing up his car, or an RC hobbiest who spends the equivalent of an actual car to have the top of the line radio's, motor's etc.

I work in an industry that sells pumps to the marine/rv market and I can tell you that being an boat/RV enthusiast can be perceived by people as just as wasteful or time consuming as PC gaming (just ask the wives of these people) and you know what playing PC games is a heck of a lot cheaper than those "hobbies".

So get off of your pedestal princess (the OP) and stop demeaning a legitamate hobby. Just because you dont get it doesnt give you the right to project your bias on other.

go die in a hole, if you dont understand then dont question, until you play as much as we do (hardcore gamers) then you have no idea why, so again i say go die in a hole, but i play cuz i love the games, nothing more

More Information

Well, some people just don't understand why other do things. "Why do gamers spend so much money and time on gaming?" What kind of question is that?

It's a question few people would actually ask.

I think the answer to that one would be "because they're gamers"

verndewd, you need to chill out a bit.

The OP has really hit a nerve here, I would just like everyone here to consider your reactions, it's true the OP is/was seemingly insensitive and maybe he was looking for just the responce you all gave him.

As was pointed out earlier in this thread, this is America, shaba has the right to have a different point of view. Shaba in this instance chose an unfortunate place to make an insensitive query.

To give shaba a "negative education" on this issue reinforces the already negative opinion shaba has.

Thats why I presented my rebuttal as I did.

Shaba, if you want a real discussion please answer my counter question to you.

Whats the difference if someone plays PC games or any other hobby?

To expand on my point (see above post) a friend of my wife has a hobby of shopping for clothes, she has over 400 pais of jeans many are well over $100, some over $200. Isnt that even more financially destructive than buying a game here and there and playing it? Doesnt it take time to shop for the items in the store, try them on to see how they look etc.?

Why arent you posting in a shoppers forum to stir them up? Why us?

Or what aboug people who constantly upgrade their homes? Im not talking about improvement Im talking about when they cross the line and keep upgrading things that are fairly new or still looks nice, even possibly recently replaced?

Or people who collect things like comics or Star Trek Memorabelia?

Why is PC gaming considered pathetic but none of these? I know you did not say we are pathetic but the tone of your post implies that you think this way.

verndewd, my first reaction to this OP was the same as yours.... "give him a vertical butt stroke to the chin with my m16, kick him aside and move on to the next piece of cannon fodder..." (if you don't know what a "vertical butt stroke" is, go find a US Marine),

but.... I work for a large multinational company and have learned there are many cultures that I don't agree with but that I should learn about them so that common goals can be reached efficiently. This makes it possible for me to get paid enough to build a computer that I can edit video on...and blow people to little bits in Scorch3d.

Gamers are our own culture. Its that simple. We see thinks differently then most people, and Id even go as far to say that gamers tend to think a tad more logically.
