No compatibility. The Proxim Symphony and RangeLAN2 cards use the HomeRF
protocol.

Also known as homefree. It had good range for its time, even though I had a
no-name version.

thanks for the replies.
I got a 'bridge' with one of the Honeywell webpads we have and was
wondering about this. the webpad does seem to talk to the 802 11 router
though....

the bridge was rated at 1.6 megs throughput... do you suppose there was
and interim product that talked both methods...or am I just lucky the webpad
talks to both?

The Honeywell Webpad - man that was a cool looking device. I have not had
one in my grubby little hands, so it was the bridge that talked to the unit,
and then the bridge plugged into ethernet, right? I had thought that the
communications from the bridge to the pad was the 2meg home band. Now you
are saying that the webpad talks directly to the wireless router? Too cool,
I had no idea. Any way of telling what the connection speed is when
connecting directly to the router? Anything above 2 meg would indicate true
support beyond the home band (but so would connecting to a router to start
with, now wouldn't it..)

Of course I may have the function of the webpad bridge wrong... Still, I
wish Honeywell had stuck with it.
