Well, considering many of the older crowd like myself here made their own games (my biggest effort was a skiing game, no surprise to many) then compared to many people you're talking to , then yes you would be simpler, maybe not the simplest of the simple, but definitely at a lower level of understanding of what's involved.

assuming again.....i know whats involved in making a game i just have no time to do it...nor do i want to....saying im more "simple" because i havent is a slap in the face

and the whole point of what i was saying there is rwaritsdario was throwing out a huge generalization with a bad example...

I really wasnt going to respond to this stupid thread but this post is making me do it. Preffering a PC over a limited console does not mean you dont have friends that is the stupidest thing i have ever heard in my life. People who use pc's for games dont want to be limited by hte limited hardware in it or by the games for it. If you want to fit 4 boxs on your tv in its limited resalution and you find that fun go for it some people dont however ;) i personaly dont care to wait 5 years to get a new graphics "card" for a console so i can play graphics that everyone on a computer has been playing the whole time. I play games for the whole effect not cuz its cheap and can be transported to my friends low res tv so i can quad screen it with them. Yes i find sports games "if i played them" better on a console mearly becuase its one of the few games that seems to play better on a controler course if i wanted to play one i would just buy a controler for my computer and do it. Personaly i dont care what you use i just preffer to not be limited so i use my computer.

Just my two frames' worth.

Then no it's not the same, knowing what's involved from a theoretical stand point alone is not the same as the personal hands on knowledge and experience of developing a game yourself. You can read about building/fixing cars, but until you get your hands dirty, it's not the same.

So be it, but that's your problem.

Which you replied to with a bad example.

Both sides of the debate have bad examples, but really this is not a console site so I don't have patience for the generalized PC bashing, and thus your comments get focus, not his.

and where was i bashing PC's? i seem to remember even saying i love pc gaming...my whole point to this...which you seem to have lost...is that console buyers have there reasons for doing so...so what if its artificially controlled...thats the way it is

Tbh, whatever floats your boat. I choose not to buy consoles because its my feeling that I like PC's functionality and flexibility more. Then again its always nice to be able to just hit "power" and start a game up - which is where the console fits in = simplicity.

Why do I have to agree with this?

IMO, consoles are for n00bs, who can't use a computer. PCs are for true people. It also seems to be PC games are better quality in graphics, and gameplay.

Consoles are not for n00bs... Im usre it has is share of noobs just as PC does... but dont generalize like that...

I know ill have a wii just for all the old school SNS games!!!

And everyone knows im no noob :)
The only fact you have illuminated is the fact that PCs are obviously for people who don't know jack about grammar.

I think that anybody that denies the fact that consoles are a better deal for gaming performance to price is a moron. The manufacturers usually lose money on the console hardware (such as XBOX). Where they really make the money is in the services that go along with the console (such as games that are now in the $60 range + xbox live).

Anyway, I am always annoyed by people who are willing to make idiotic statements such as "PCs are for true people". That is one of the stupidest statements I have ever heard. So, if I like consoles I'm not a true person? How, exactly, do you define what a "true person" is? How does buying a console exclude me from this list? How does buying a PC include me?

Buying every part and reseaching alot about it, putting it all together with your own hands, tweaking everything for it work how you want it to, installing the game, tweaking the games settings for it to look how you want it, and last and most importantly having the pride that you have something unique in your hands and that you know exactly how everything works. That is "true" people.

Going to kmart buying the console and a game, poping it in and pushing the ON buttom. Those are "simple" people.

Wow. That was the stupidest thought I've heard from anyone in a long time. This includes general chat in the Barrens in World of Warcraft. A "true person"????? You're an assinine simpleton! Oh, and don't worry, I do fall squarely under your definition of a True Person. I'm not a jealous poser.
A True Person is a completely meaningless statement though. Some people don't have the knowledge and experience to build their own PC. They're not less human because of it, you moron. They focus on OTHER THINGS in life! Some people do stuff other than build PCs and play games. I, for example, go to school. That's where I learned grammar and punctuation - something many people seem to lack. However, even those people who lack these skills are still human, and just as much so as myself.
Peace out.

The way it is being artificially generated by the companies doesn't make consoles better it makes their creators better marketers, not the consoles better tools.

Your points are based on misonceptions, all of which have nothing to do with the consoles themselves so much as the fact that users aren't smart enough or organized enough to change the status quo. And what you are trying to refute is the concept that console users and their consoles are simple, none of your comments do that properly, and then you do the console way of thinking 'that's the way it is'.

But seriously, you talk about controllers as a difference, which they arne't then the artificially controlled aspects. So if there's nothing else, then I guess your done other than your red cheeks.

First of all I replied to myself because nobody else that replied to me is worth replying to.
Second, I aprecciate TheGreatGrapeApe's help in defending my point of view, but seriously dont waste your time.

All the things you (the ppl who replied to me) said that concern computer problems (noise, etc) can be fixed, youre just too new to know how.

Computers are OBIOUSLY more expensive because theyre inifite times more productive than consoles, playing games is just a big bonus for them, not their main function.

Since were talking about gaming, I assumed people would catch up and assume that my ""true" person"/""simple" person" statements actually meant "true gamer"/"simple gamer".

If you have better things in life than building your own computer I congratulate you. Just dont call yourself a real gamer or enthusiast because even if you play the game 10hrs a day youll be in the same level as a 7yrs whos as obsessed as you.

Its about being passionate about one thing in life, the thing we all (or so I thought before this thread) should be passionate about. The satifaction of looking at your case window and admiring your work, playing oblivion maxed out and thinking "man MY (not every other machine selled by million are the globe) computer is a beast", reaching a 5Ghz OC on a C2D, all these things are what make it worth it.

to no one in partucular:

let this one die please. let people play what they want. simple fact remains pc's performance wise are and always will be better than consoles except for the part where 6 months before they are released when the manufacturers releae theoretical specs. sorry but the xbox and ps3 especially sounded ok about a year ago when they were first announced but as always pc's have advanced so that they are again behind.

oh why do i drone on, let this thread burn in hell.

Well said. No point of arguing, we all know PCs pwn consoles.

More Information

The primary thing I dislike about consoles compared to PCs is the relative lack of range of controllability. The controllers on consoles are limiting to me. There's no equivalent of the mouse in consoles when used to "look around" in first person games. The second joystick is just too slow and not intuitive enough for me, when considering the ability to guage speed and accuracy of how you're looking around.

3rd person is more OK, but it's not as immersive enough for me. I like first person better.

Other than that, I've enjoyed a few console games, especially right after I bought my 61in big screen. I just planted a comfy chair in the middle of my living room and played for a couple days...

No comparison.

And WTF is up with the 360's lack of AF filtering in all there games???

The PC one looks much sharper.

i only got oblivion at the weekend but i have to say why no AF in the game options. i enable it to 16xHQ in the cat's for obvious reasons as the cobbles and building in the city alone demand that it is used otherwise the game looks shocking.

still, i am not sure what gfx options are available in the 360's. can you adjust draw distances(they are terrible in the PC) and do you have to put up with the original textures.
