Hey, does anyone know if MS is pushing the same privacy issue with their Office XP Pro. version as they are with their WinXP OS? i.e., needing a key code to reinstall after configuration changes...etc. Also, what advantage is there to running Office XP Pro opposed to Office 2000 Pro.

I found a partial answer to my own post, but I still don't know MS's policy on how many times you can reinstall Office XP in the event of a configuration change. Their privacy policy is rather bothersome.

This is from an article on www.techtv.com

Microsoft will require that you activate Office XP via the company's website or toll-free number. According to Microsoft, product activation is the company's way of slaying the twin demons of software piracy and lost revenue. Microsoft affords a generous grace period (50 software launches) before Office XP becomes inoperable.

This answers the question about the initial registration, but my question still remains unanswered. Are the bloodsucker (MS) gonna charge me for reinstalling it after I upgrade my system a couple of times, or if so, how many times? Is this product really worthy the hassle?

It looks prettier, msft makes some more money from you, and a lot of the bugs in 2000 have been fixed/changed.

By a bizarre coindidence, that's what they did from 97 to 2000, too.

Well, folks I think I found that smelly dead fish (MS), I mean the answer to my post. If you are interested or thinking of upgrading to XP Office, read this article and then you decide.
