I built this C2D E6600 system yesterday. I had many of the parts from a Pentium D 805 Smithfield micro system I built earlier. Thanks to all the helpful discussion and great ideas all of you here at Tom's Hardware gave, I was able to put together this super nice little system. It pretty much runs the system in my sig out of town. You dudes knew that, I just like saying 'run out of town'.

The price of DDR2 RAM is outrageous. So I looked away from Corsair and contacted G. Skill support. The RAM one of the techs there recommended is listed in the systems's specs. Works fabulous. As soon as I had the system drivers installed I set the timings at 4-4-4-12 and it was running strong at 800mhz. The tech at G. Skill said it would do a lot better than 800 mhz. The same tech said the RAM works super in the ASUS P5W DH Deluxe, P5N32-SLI PE and NV590 chip also. I was surprised he said specifically the RAM was tested and works fine on the upcoming 590 chip. I have a lot of Corsair DIMMS and by comparison, so far I like this RAM just fine. I was thinking I had to buy Corsiar to be sure the ASUS boards would run. My OCZ DDR2 PC5400 would not run in an ASUS P5N32-SLI PE.

Anyway, thanks for all the input on these forums. And for you guys thinking about building a C2D I hope I gave some good informationa and good ideas. This rig fired right up and is running lights out no problem.
