I cannot get it to go to 54 MBPS Like it says it can. It is only going at 11 MBPS and I cant take it, im used to having a solid line, and going at 100mbps, and now to be at 11mbps is just killer, websites load so slowly, my ping is huge in games, I just dont get it. I tried reading the manual and configuring it, but i cant do it.

My laptop runs at 54mbps and it really pisses me off. I cant figure it all out.

If anyone has any ideas, or has a question for me about my setup so you can find out more and try and help, I will get you all the info I can give.

If it helps any, my laptop is a Dell Latitude D620 with the Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card

Well all I can say is this. A. It was the most expensive wireless g.
B. ITs rated at 54mbps
C. Im a student, and the landlords a dick
D. Because of that, I cant get a solid line down here.

Like, I dont get it. My laptop is running at 54mbps and is so much faster and so much more reliable...

A. so u bought the router?
B. what does the landlord got 2 do with this
C. what u dont own the router? im confused

When it says 54mbps, its the connection speed for both router and u, it never will go that fast, max id say 48,

all wireless G routers are rated 54mbps

TELL ME:
is the router yours
where is the router
how much it costs
WEP or WPA enabled?
how far is ur router from ur laptop
what is the signal streghth

The only thing I bought, was the wireless adapter. The router is a SMC 2804WBR Barricade Router (what windows is detecting fo rme)

router is right above me more or less.
i dont know how much the router cost, but the adapter cost like 60-80 dollars.
WEP
1 foot closer than my desktop
signal is at 50-75 dbm, noise is at 95 dbm, on my desktop signal strength right now is 100% but it always drops.

dam that noise is high

so u have cordless phones? around or ur nighbor has them?

Reply to derek101700

get "netstumbler" and test the signal, if u see red or purple thats bad!

I think i connected with it, how do i tell lol.

Still 11mbs :\

Reply to soul40k

you might be running in wireless B mode instead of G

does ur card support G?

like it says right on the box: up to 54 mbps!
G - 802.11g - 54mbps
802.11g/2.4GHZ Wireless
D-Link AirPlus G products can transfer data up to 5 times faster than standard 802.11b networks. blahblahblah

its all it says!!!!

Buttt it also says its backwards compatible. yet, when i use the windows configureation shit, it is obviously going to B instead of G.. Which it shouldn't.. But then when I try and go to the D-Link utlilty, I cant change it to g and still be able to connect. The options in the D-Link utility are just 802.11b or 802.11b/g, I try to go to IEEE but it wont connect.

I dont know anymore.. Ive tryed everything.

My last hange is to try and reinstall the drivers.
