Hi guys,
I am buying a 17" Laptop/Notebook soon, i have narrowed down my choices to 3:
-Toshiba P100-209
-HP Pavillion dv8373ea
-Asus A7Jb
My big doubt is should i keep the Asus since it has a higher price but more features, and uses a ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 vs the two others that use a NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7600
What do yo guys think? Any benchmarks that i can look at?
P.S: I am not looking for top performance Go 7900, i am looking for a well balanced system that will last at least 3years. If you guys know any 17" tha costs around 1.300-1.600€ please mention it, but i am iun europe, so dell is not very suported here at least in my country.
I would think that the Go 7600 would be better than the Mobility X1600 just because the desktop counterpart 7600GS/GT spanks the X1600 series.
Yeah! That is also my rational but i don't know if it is correct, if this was for a desktop i would definetly go with nVidia... still i don't know if the same is true in Mobile/Laptop, i am trying to find some benchmarks but its very hard to compare similar system.

The 7600GT is probably your best bet. Probably would see a better difference on it anyway. Plus, it beats out the desktop version one.
Why don't people use Google? Anyways, it's in German but here you go:

Overall, yes the 7600 Go beats the X1600. However, word has it that the X1600 has its own advantages under certain conditions... I just didn't want to spend any more time...
The 7600 is better, but I'd go with the ASUS anyway, as they doin't install all that crap software. With the amount of garbage on the HP and Toshiba, the 7600 will be equal to (if not slower than) the X1600 in the Asus.
You might also want to look at the Dell E1705. Here in the US, you can get one with a 1.73GHz Core Duo, 1GB RAM, Geforce Go 7900GS, 80GB HDD, and (very important) a Windows reinstall CD for about US $1200. The Windows CD is very important because it will allow you to have a crap-free, clean copy of Windows. Also, the 7900GS Go will slaughter the 7600 and X1600.
TheGreatGrapeApe is the guy you want to talk to.
The two are actually about equal. It seems that most of the above replies are based on the desktop cards which is incorrect.
Here's my previous blab on the subject:

Here are so real gaming labtop benches:

If you have specific questions about labtops or the mobile graphics cards I suggest you go to Notebook Review's forums since it's a great community there for that subject. Not taking anything away from THG of course.
Thanks for the info guys, it owuld be cool if the cards used mxm so i could upgrade i would simply go for the cheaper and then worry if i needed more power, this way i have to be careful, price is still important but i also have to consider the future value.
Dell looks good unfortunalty like i said it is not an option for me.
