Using W2000 Explorer to locate a Word or Excel file on
C:\, when I double click to open the file, I get the
message "a document with the name ...(.doc or .xls) is
already open. You cannot open two documents with the same
name". This does not happen when I am in Word or Excel
and go to open the file, only when I access the file thru
Windows Explorer. This does not happen with other file
types like .pdf or .jpg. Platform is Sony VAIO Notebook,
W2000, Office 97. If I go to the a network drive and open
an Excel or Word file thru W2000 Explorer, the system does
actually open 2 files, the second file with a truncated (8
caracter) name.
