Not much more, unfortunately!

Chris - have you seen any public info on what's new in Magneto? Any idea
whether the standard apps (PIM, Word, Excel) will be updated significantly?

Cheers

Rick,

Different Chris here, sorry for jumping in.

I was rummaging around on IRC last night and from a conversation there I
have been led to believe that the WM Platform release will have had a
significant level of work carried out on it. Charting in Excel and the
ability to store the charts back in Word (Windows Object Linking and
Embedding - OLE).
Pocket PowerPoint will be making a come back as 'PowerPoint Mobile' (I would
guess this to just be a view only rehash of the CE Core PowerPoint viewer.)

Pocket IE will have Full screen support, security zone support and be more
security minded.

There will be an updated UI.

A New 'My Pictures' style image viewer

Windows Media Player 10 - with plug-in support (Think ActiveX control
codec's; 1 player any format - now that would be great). Streaming
improvements. Improved mobile synchronisation in the sync manager to the
host.

The new Smartphone will apparently have a broader VoIP focus too. I got the
impression that with a new WiFi / WPA support in WM2005. The Smartphone /
Phone edition release (if there will be one - I don't know) will be able to
proxy the phone dialling onto a VoIP service provider (Perhaps a SIP
provider if we're lucky). So if you are in a WiFi hot spot you can use the
VoIP service combined with standard Internet access. Then when out of range
switch back to Cellular / G3 / GPRS ad-hoc.

Now if all that pans out to be accurate, heck even if some of that is
accurate! With the core improvements made in Macallan (CE5) - DirectX 3D.
UPnP NLA. Bluetooth, WiFi, Hardware support at the core level. BSP and IDE
modularisation. This is going to be a great release.

Now if only someone would release a WM2005 HVGA Clamshell.
:'-(

Jornada / MobilePro 1000 series anyone?
:-)
