S.O.S Activesync Major Problem Please Help

Hey, how's it going? I just purchased a brand new 4705 and a new Sony Vaio
notebook computer. I installed the companion CD for the 4705 and Activesync,
but it didn't work. Then I went to microsoft's website and d/loaded it from
there but it doesn't detect the iPAQ. I have no idea what the problem is. I
used to have an i600 Smartphone from Verizon and never had a problem with
Activesync before. I even revived the i600 from the basement to test Activesync
on it, but to no avail. The i600 probably felt like the ex-girlfriend who gets
called at 4:00 am when you're wasted and can't put two and two together.
Anyway, I've also tried Activesync via Bluetooth, but that doesn't work either.
I'd take any suggestions possible. I've tried to install, delete, reinstall ad
nauseum and nothing seems to work. Please help!
