I am upgrading my PC i have purchased

2 BFG Tech BFGR78256GTOC Geforce 7800GT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO PCI Express x16 Video Cards

and for a CPU
Intel Pentium D 950 Presler 800MHz FSB 2 x 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 Dual Core Processor

Now my question is What Mother board would you recommend for a SLI set up i am new to Nvidia and Intel.

Former AMD ATI

Price really inst an issue i would just like to know what boards would even work, totally clueless

I was looking at this board

IntelĀ® Desktop Board D975XBX

But i am not even sure if it supports SLI,

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I bet your hearing this a lot, but if at all possible, wait for Conroe to come and out for newer motherboards with SLI that support Conroe. The only one out right now that support Conroe and is SLI enabled is the ASUS P5N32-SLI Deluxe, which also happens to be the best LGA775 mobo with SLI around anyways, so your choices are very limited. But if you wait, I'm sure NVidia and Intel will work something out against the AMD/ATI merger...

And that Intel board will not support SLI, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars.

ASUS SLI boards are high quality. I did just notice they use 667 mhz. RAM, not PC6400 800mhz.

That board will not work; you will need to purchase a motherboard with an Nvidia chipset for SLI.

The problem with the Asus boarsd there is they dont support Pentium D chips, I wish site would break mobo down inot SLI options, Newegg is great for every breakdown except that . It would be nice to see ONLY SLI boards.

So only asus votes so far?

Any one else running SLI?

I appreciate the help again

Asus P5N32 SLI is the ONLY mb that suports your 950 CPU and an SLI with nvidia GPUs.

There are people that buy 975x chipset mbs and conver the "ATI crosfire" into an SLI rig but its like writing a new bios.

I could have sugested a P5WD2 SLI but it wont suport your dual core....

Only the SE version of that Asus board supports Conroe and it can't be found yet. Nvidia is releasing a SLI chipset for Intel Conroe but it won't be availabel until August. The P5N32 will support you CPU and video setup and do it quite well but as someone else pointed out it only supports memory speeds of 667. You may be able to overclock it into the low 700's but I doubt you would be able to run 800mhz. I would just get the P5N32 since it is your best solution unless you can spend the next few months looking at that new CPU and video cards in their box.

Yeah i went ahead and bought that board . I also go 2 74 gig WD hard drives the 16mb 10000rpm want to run the in a raid set up . i hear they can blaze . I also got a new PSU i had the enermax 550 whisper gold , but a friend said i need one that supports SLI also . I am also going water cooling . I am sure that it will run faster than my current set-up.
AMD XP 3200
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
Abit Kx333r
2Gigs Crucial ram
2WD 8mbcasche 120GB HDs

i mean the jump should change my numbers a bit .

Again i am very grateful for the sugestions . Now i must sit by my door and wait for UPS . I am so excited
