Always amazing when large companies produce complex software for systems and
then indicate they aren't really sure what they did and what for. I see on
the Adobe site where it does indeed say "Adobe Reader for Pocket PC 2.0 runs
on handheld devices that use either the Pocket PC 2002 or Windows® Mobile
2003 (update 2) operating systems." It runs on PPC2002, WM2003 and WM203SE
(that's Second Edition, there is no update 2). You should be fine.

But for reference if your About screen says Version 3.x you have PPC2002
which runs on WinCE 3.x, If it says Version 4.x it is WM2003 which runs on
WinCE 4.x, and if you have Second Edition, it may just say that as well as
Version 4.x, My Dell does. If it doesn't say that, if you can turn your
screen landscape from the screen control panel, that's Second Edition.

Nope, no upgrade there. That is a situation that occurs because the Pocket
IE reports itself as an earlier browser. Many Web sites, notably banking
ones, or those with heightened security, just won't talk to PIE because of
that. Not necessarily that PIE can't handle it, the Web server refuses to
respond. There are some registry hacks around that make PIE report itself
as something else. Tweaks2K at http://www.pc-counselor.com/ is one such
program. It exposes numerous hidden options in the registry, without you
having to get a registry editor and potentially messing things up.

A drawback to the hack IMHO is that some web sites recognize PIE and will
redirect you to a mobile formatted version of the site. With the hack they
don't know what you are, and present the normal desktop version of the site.
Typically your stylus gets a workout on the scroll bars.

That hack doesn't always solve problems with features that PIE just doesn't
support however. There are alternative browsers, such as Netfront too.

That's right the actual program tells you that, when you change the option
on the screen..

Yes, that's the name. You can find info at
http://www.access.co.jp/english/products/nf.html or at Handango or
PocketGear. It doesn't actually replace PIE, since that is in ROM. You
would install it like any other program.
