35 dollar.
Russel Peters anyone?

Reply to shinigamiX

how, the, HELL, can they sell that for 380 bucks?!?!?!?!?!!??!?!

Reply to michaelwolfson

i now finally understand just how godly the conroe is, and i'll be purchasing the e6700

Reply to michaelwolfson

The E6700 is $530 in lots of 1,000. So expect to pay $610 - $636 with a 15% to 20% retail markup.

Reply to jaguarskx

I thought the 2.4 GHz E6600 was suposed to cost $316 not more, if it will i can say good bye to it  ....fake advertising ( i know some pple say its per 1000 units , but no one stated that info, some sites did others didnt)

Reply to illuminatirex

When quoting processor prices, it's almost always done in quantities of 1000. AMD's prices are always listed in kilo count as well.

Reply to ethernalite

Its $1900 over here. Pricey indeed. Or it can apparently be ordered for $1600.

Reply to Action_Man

Well in good old UK, you can pre order the E6600 for £252.

Now taking VAT off that is £214 so at current rates thats $395.

I would take at least $50 off that total as in the UK we get screwed so its around $300-$350.

The E6700 is a huge jump in price £411 thats double for a 0.26ghz increase.

yeah but the e6700 might have more unlocked multipliers than the e6600

The E6700 is not an Extreme part so it does not have unlocked multipliers. The only way to over clock the part is by using the FSB method. For the X6800 it is unlocked so you can either increase the multipler or FSB or both.

should i buy an e6700 and overclock it to 4ghz, or buy an e6800? i mean what is the difference between the two besides the clockspeed?

damm makes me glad I live in the States.......$1900..?? thats still over 1300 US isn't it?

Reply to Rustol3um

The X6800 has been binned out to run in spec at 2.93GHz. The part is also unlocked this makes overclocking a breeze because you can increase the multiplier or FSB or both. It will set you back the most but if you really want to overclock and have the easiest time doing it then the X6800 is the one to buy. But looking at all of the early performance numbers on the web you can certainly not go wrong getting the E6700 overclocking it.

i mean really, the whole damn conroe series kills the fx-62 pretty much, how much faster would i need a computer to be. I'm going with the E6700, and maybe i'll overclock it slightly. It's not worth the extra 500 bucks just for unlocked multipliers.

$240 + retail market pricing

$1400 if I'm not mistaken.

Dude --- there is no such thing as too little speed.... the point where I can encode a 2 hour video in 3 seconds, then I will be satisfied :)

For about the next 9-12 months, it appears Intel will wear the crown --- it could be longer we haven't seen any action from K8L, as I have said before it looks impressive on paper, but it is on paper at the moment.

Which reminds me, we have see Core 2 previewed, booted, running games and benches IDF or not --- yet people call it a paper tiger, where as K8L was shown just a few weeks ago and the image we saw was not a die shot but a cad plot, yet some are already proclaiming "pwnage and victory". Again, hipocrisy and double standards -- it drives me nuts :) ...

Normally, when people approach me asking for computer buying advice I typically tell them go ahead and buy, 6 months down the road there is always something just a little faster. Rarely do I advise waiting, then comes a moment in the industry where a revolutionary product is on the horizon then I usual advise wait and buy then. Core 2 is one of those wait and buy then moments :)

You are asking good questions, thanks for the disucssion topics that steer the forum away form "up yours" to "you moron" threads :)

Jack

thanks man. i was against intel at first, until i read about conroe and how cheap the price was, now i'm for both, but intel more.

What hard-drives are you using? I want one! :P

I agree. I like FSB overclocking anyway, and for the enthusiast, FSB manipulation is more rewarding compared to just upping the multi. I wish Intel would do it like AMD. You can only lower the multi on lower-clocked models. I like the idea of running a Conroe at a 400+FSB. For enthusiasts, high quality RAM is a given anyways, as well as top-notch mobo's, so i say.....FSB Away!!

Of the 7 HDs in my box, I currently have 1.2 Terabytes in the system, it is almost full on all drives. One drive is my music library (backed up to DL DVD), one is my gaming drive, and rest are for video and editing. I am a videographer hobbiest.

I have a mix of drives, for my system drive I have a 74 Gig Raptor, for my data drives I have mix of Maxtor and Seagate --- standard consumer fair with not the greatest peformance, be holds all my crap.

Jack7 drives inyour case? You must have some nice airflow going through your case to erradicate all that heat. :?

Why not 2 seconds? I . . . I don't think I'd be able to tolerate waiting 3 seconds to encode a 2 hour video.

Reply to djkrypplephite

Nah, they'll just claim that they're bought off like the rest of the world.

Reply to Action_Man

guys i was talking about speed in today's world, not 3 years from now when encoding a 2 hour movie will take 30 seconds

Reply to michaelwolfson

Well with the HDDVD and Blu-Ray on the way encode times will go up so all that extra processing power will be very useful.

the intel core 2 duo will retail for 599 us dollars!!! riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidgee racerrrr!!!

Reply to michaelwolfson

So, Any one knows how low should the FX-60 939 price go?
How about 4800+ X2 939?
I just don't want to drop my mobo and memory, but with the new intel prices, I am no sure what to do!!!!! :?

Reply to maxtoons

Well according to this awesome thread. The 4600 (theres no more 4800's) should be $301 after the 24/7 price cuts.

Do you really want to annoy 9-inch and BM?

How about a headline post:

'Must Have' Product Award Winner: Core 2 Duo

http://www.hexus.net/content/item. [...] 989&page=5

When we came up with the Award categories, we thought that this one would be the hardest to decide a winner for. After all, everyone in Team HEXUS is a technophile so any new bit of kit worth its salt is going to get us excited. But we were all presently surprised when, by unanimous agreement we decided on the winner for the prestigious ‘Must Have’ Award.

To qualify as winner, this is the product that we agreed we’d sell elderly relatives for, something that would annoy us if we didn’t own it and that we’d love if we did have it. So it’s no surprise that Intel take the Award for ‘Must Have’ product with the mighty Conroe CPU.

Just previously you commented about "up yours" posts and now you take a barb at me.....

I like that Intel doesn't look like Cyrix anymore. I hate that fanboys are having fits and the chip ISN'T OUT YET, so what happens if AMD does have this "Dynamic Threading" stuff and it erases the advantages in Aug stepping?

Keep in mind the FX-64 is coming out, so those number wont exactly be the same. Also keep in mind FX-62 will be priced around that of the comparative conroe about $300. So whatever you go for will be comparatively priced.

If AMD prices thier FX-62 at $300... how long will it take to collapse into a privately held company!
And if they slash thier prices by 75%, that alone is enough to anger AMDroids to the point of insanity, who actually paid well in excess of $1,100 for thier CPU's... [/massive returns for prev purchases of FX chips... **screw the 25% restocking fees, focusing on the additional 50% return savings**]
