I'm starting this topic because I'm thinking about putting a PC Power and Cooling Turbocool 1kw in a modded lian-li case by Koolance. Now the specs say that the case will fit PSUs up to 9.5 inchces and the Turbocool is slightly smaller than that but I'm wondering if anyone knows if there will be a clearance problem.

Thanks for any responses posted! :D

well....i would find the demesions of the PSu and see if it'll fit in ur lian li

it would really help if u told evryone which lian li model u have

The case is the V2100 and although the dimensions of the PSU are 9 inches and there's still .5 inches of clearance, is that enough for the cables or will I have to mod my case? I mean I've seen it done... with much struggle... but yeah.
Sorry... real noob to this kind of stuff... :D

Lol, well first of all thanks for the help, and now to answer your first question. Sorry for confusing you but I meant a noob at like modding cases and stuff (I'm about as graceful as an elephant falling out of a tree into a pile of mud) the computer itself is the start of a 3D graphics and webdesign workstation. It's the "start" simply because of a lack of funds. I was just afraid that I'd have to mod my case and ya... that would not have been good.

a kilowatt........i mean....thats a lot of power what are u gonna run.

Well, lets see, he's going to need a couple 30" lcd's, a mini-fridge filled with his favorite beer, and a washer and dryer for his pants after he realizes how much he just paid for 1kw of power......yeah, you can run all that off that psu :)

What am I going to run? Well right now my friend is letting me borrow a xeon dempsey mobo but eventually I'm going to get a dual-woodcrest setup with quad-sli running XSI softimage, Maya 7, 3Dx Max, After-effects, Manga Studio Ex and Poser 6 all at once, and yes I myself can multi-task like this... many a long night listening to power metal and drinking monster (beer is WAY too bitter for my taste). And I'll probably be doing a couple other things on there.
And I know exactly what you guys are going to say: OVERKILL! And I agree with you, but hey it's my $$$ let me waste it as I see fit (and hopefully I'll do it wisely) lol. Oh, I'll probably end up gaming during all of that. mostly The Sims, not much of an action gamer.

The sad part is that you're right. It's incredible how much power computers consume these days. If only it was like the good days where a 300W PSU was plenty of power for everyone.

Reply to Dante_Jose_Cuervo

300w (good ones) are still enough for almost anything except sli and dual xeon/opterons! I will stand by that remark until it is untrue!

That will be one heck of a system, I have nothing against you putting that much cash into something, better than throwing it away on strippers

You can fit longer PSUs in the PCv 1000 plus but you have to take out one of the HD racks... (not a very difficult thing to do) and most pplz dont have more than 3 HDs anyway.

This will give you plenty of room for even the silverstone 750 wat psu or the Tagan 550 or the Antec Neo 480w with cable select!

I also wished that lian li made a compatible list of of psus with their cases but they dont....

well have fun wasting.

Ya that's quite the set up... good luck trying to quad sli as well... I don't think the 7950 comes with an sli bridge. Maybe in the future but right now quad sli is limited to builders like falcon.

Even then I don't think you'd need a 1kw psu.

Invidia and ATI have informed Power Supply makers that demands of their cards and chipsets are going to require higher end power sources. Because of this, many companies like CoolMax, Enermax (and a few others) have begun developing 850-1100 watt power supplies. Enermax announced that they will be putting out a 1000w powersource that is both modular AND will be having a 5th rail. Coolmax has the 850 and 1000w Green Series units out now (you can find them at ZipZoomFly). Then of course, there is the Tagan TG900 which was specifically designed for quad-sli. Unless you are dead set on getting the PC Power & Cooling unit, these are alternatives that you should, at least, research before making such an investment

I've seen and heard of the one from Tagan but I'll look up the other ones. Thanks for the help! :D

Please help me....... ANYBODY!please. I have a serious pc problem.
I live in a town where power blackouts are very common and unpredictable. The problem is: My pc simply goes off and restarts on ups backup the moment there is a power blackout. This especially happens when i am playing games. I am using a nVidia 7900 GT card. I was using a Champion 600VA/360W ups.
I called computer techs for help and i was told that the ups is overloaded by playing games when there is a power blackout. All i wanted was the pc to operate for a few minutes when playing games, so that i can save whatever i was doing and properly shutdown my system. So, i was recommended to upgrade to a Champion 1000VA/600W ups.
I did the same. I charged the new ups for 12 hours. I ran a game( Age of empire 3 and Ghost recon2) while playing them i switched off the mains. The pc still went off and restarts on ups backup.
I simply dont know what to do. I dont know where exactly the problem is. I am a lay pc user and i do not know the technical details of a computer.
Could there be a problem in Graphics card or mother board or cabin power supply unit or any software settings? Should I upgrade to a better quailty and high capacity ups like APC 1300VA/780W or higher?
This is my system configuration:
• Mercury motherboard
• Inted Core duo 3.0 GHz processor
• Seagate 160 gb hard disk
• 1 gb RAM ( 2 512 mb RAM cards)
• Sony DVD RW disk drive
• NVidia GeForce 7900 GT card
• Zebronics Lava cabin with two inbuilt fans and a 400W power supply unit
• Samsung 17 inch LCD monitor (Syncmaster 740n)
• Champion 1000VA/600W online ups
• Logitech keyboard and mouse
• Creative speakers with woofer
• Cannon ip1300 pixma inkjet printer
I have connected only the CPU and monitor to the ups and nothing else.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE RECOMMEND A GOOD UPS FOR THE ABOVE CONFIGURATION WHICH CAN KEEP THE PC RUNNING ESPECIALLY WHEN PLAYING GAMES FOR A FEW MINUTES SO THAT THERE IS TIME TO SAVE THE GAME AND PROPERLY SHUTDOWN THE PC?
and DO I HAVE TO UPGRADE THE 400W PSU WHICH I AM CURRENTLY USING?

Please feel free to share your ideas to shed some light in my pc problem. I would greatly obliged for your kind help.
