"Next Gen" / DirectX 10 Graphics Cards?

I know it may be a little early to tell, but I was wondering if anyone had an ETA on the next gen graphics cards? I plan on doing an upgrade here and was kinda holding off on the vid cards until I heard something about this, but I have yet to dig up any info. I am sitting on a decent SLI motherboard, so at the moment if I were to buy cards today, it would be 7900GTX's, but I dont want to drop $1000 just to have a new GPU announced on monday. Thanx in advance for any info!

There are always new cards coming out, so the question really is do you want to upgrade right now? If not, then wait. Two 7900's or X1900's will smoke just about anything out there, as well as cause a power brownout. If you wait for the next gen. of cards, expect to pay Hollywood prices. :wink:

Excellent read if not somewhat short but like all good things, you always wish you had more I would like to have seen some pictures too or maybe a short video download !

No solid news of any sort. But there are rumors that G80 is delayed.

Nvidia G80 misses tape out

NVIDIA G80 Delayed (Insider Series)

Best advice is to just wait. nVidia has a track record of releasing new or updated video cards every 6 month; 9 months if there are any delays.

Since the 7900 series just came out in March it can be assumed that G80 will not come until September, or early December if there are delays.

Will nVidia buck the trend and release G80 in the summer? Don't know, but a production life of only 3 months for a GPU is kinda aggressive even for nVidia.

no, listen carefuly. the post was on the first page of the gfx card forum. he would have seenit when he posted. it was clearly about nvidia's new gpu. in it is mentioned lots of things to do with the next generation vid cards. it is no excuse saying he is new as that would only be more reason to do a search IMO. if people think repeatedly posting the same topic is no big deal they will continue to do it.

Any question posted here could be found using a google query, probably easier even than the forum searches. Easier is they key: it's easier to post a question and get an answer than to search through 100 obscure results (google or otherwise) looking for information relevant to the question.

It is much easier to spend 10 seconds answering a question you feel is "dumb" than ranting 20 times on every question you feel is dumb. So really, who is showing the lack of intelligence here? The person asking a simple question, or the person wasting hours of his life complaining about it?

crawl back in your hole whizzard. to you it is no big deal but after the hundredth post exactly the same as as all the others you get abit annoyed. the fact that there was a post concerning this stuff only a day before meant that he did not need to search. true it had to do with either waiting for the next gen cards or sticking to this generation and even that topic has been discussed.

LOL, this is great. Never thought I would cause so much fun. In my defense, the post that I was supposedly able to find would require me to know that the G80 is NVIDIA's new GPU, which I didn't, and considering it was being compared to current gen card (the 7900) I assumed it was a comparison to something out already. Thanx to everyone who defended me! Even though I didn't get much useful info, its still a great thread. WOOT!
