As stated before, deciding what to get now when you aren't buying till December is a very bad idea.

If you're hell bent on spending $12k (which in nutz IMHO but to each their own)...what kind of "video editing" are you doing? Are you just chopping out commercials from tv episodes and editing family videos, or are you doing a lot of REAL video stuff?

You could get a real time video encoder board and that could easily chew up half your budget if you're having trouble spending it all. Maybe a professional video editing suite may be something to look into.
