You can't... S939 does not support DDR2 and most boards only support up to 4GB MAX.

To use 16GB RAM or more you need boards like these:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813129136

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813151149

But you still can't use DDR2 you have to use DDR - which actually isn't a problem since Opteron 2xx and 8xx memory bandwidth scales linearly as you add CPUs with 2 Opteron 2xx CPUs and 4 memory sticks you have 2x the memory bandwidth.

2xx Opterons also require 184pin REGISTERED ECC PC3200 DDR SDRAM.

Those boards support 2way SLI for up to 2 nVidia cards.

A Quad Dual Core Opteron ( 8 Cores ) with 16GB RAM will cost about $10K - 16K

A Dual Dual Core Opteron ( 4 Cores ) with 4GB RAM and 2 7900GTs about $5K - $6K

I've actually built machines like that.

It's a lot of fun :-D

I would have posted my newegg configs but their new system keeps removing parts from my lists :-|

extreme system with a 19 inch monitor comon???!!! wtf??
get the new LG 100 inch plasma hdtv for 100k!

Reply to illicitsc

16Gb of ram! What are you trying to run a server while playing at the same time? You have no use for it, unless you multitask of over 20 programs while playing FEAR and BF2 at the same time. 2Gb is great, 4Gb is just pushing it! 8O

2 7900GTX would be great with FX60!

If you want 7.1 then you need to get a good sound card like Audigy 2.

With your original specs, I don't think there's a mobo for it.

So if you want to spend lots of money for a sick rig, then consider this.

FX60
NForce 4 Mobo SLI
4Gb DDR ram with ultra low timings
2x7900GTX
2x150Gb raptor in raid
1x500Gb se for backup
Good set of wc system
Audigy 2 sound card.
7.1 Klipsch ProMedia
650 SLI certified PSU.
24" wide screen LCD.
and a car.

There, it would cost the same as your original specs and it's possible to run. :D

LMMAO!! Creative Inpire speakers with that potentially kick arse system..........hmmmm, someone not sure what they are on about.

Aye that system requires Klipsch. No doubt about it.

Here's a nice system you could get for a lot of money...

Athlon FX-60
4GB DDR500 Crucial Ballistix
nForce4 SLI Mobo
2x Nvidia GeForce 7900GTX
4x 500GB 7200RPM in Raid 0+1
2x 150GB 15kRPM Raptor or SCSI config
Custom painted case from Falcon or wherever...
with built in Coffee Machine for long LAN parties ;)
24" Samsung LCD or 23" Sony LCD for the basics
1024 x 768 Native Rez Projector for the heavy stuff
Logitech G7 Laser Mouse
Logitech $200 Multimedia KB w/e it's called
1000w PSU
Creative Audigy 2 7.1 Sound Card
Logitech or Klipsch or Creative or Altec Lansing 7.1 Speakers
2x 16x DVD Burners
2GB USB Key
60GB Creative Portable Media Center
Motorola Razr or Slvr....or Pocket PC
2006 Mazda RX-8

Wow! That would be awesome! You will probably never buy it but it would be awesome to dream on... ;)

Quad SLI is available but hardly worth it.

Dual SLI is not worth it for most people.

I single high end card from nVidia (7900GT or GTX) or ATI (X1900 series) with be a better choice.

SLI still has some issues and crossfire has even more issues resulting in driver and stability problems.

What is your budget?

I could build you a Quad opteron for about $16K or a Dual Opteron for about $6K.

I do not believe Quad Crossfire exists yet.

Quad SLI is available but I would recommend Dual SLI with more CPUs and RAM instead.

Either this kids a troll or a completely inept teenager whos parents have a shitload of money.

I'll build you a PC for $10,000 kid.

If that guy wants something decent he/she should check out voodoopc and alienware...that'll sort'em out in one go. And there will be no complaints about quality :)

(voodoopc have pc's which go over 20000USD which is way higher than alienware - then again for 20k I can buy a dedicated server with quad Quaddro graphics cards- it's all down to what the computer is going to be used for)

Reply to ihatelag

I was proposing to build it at cost or maybe a few bucks for pizza.

I can build a custom system @ about 50% of what a custom Dell would cost.

Alienware, Falcon and VoodoPC make great systems and have great support unfortunately this comes at a price ( usually $2K- $4K or more over the actual hardware cost ).

It depends. What do you plan to use it for?

More $ will not necessarily make it better.

A Dual Opteron with 4 cores, 2 7900GTX cards and 4 memory sticks would offer the best performance for the $.

You can run Q4 server on any PC.

Granted it is multi-threaded so it will run better with more cores.

lolz what a crap system dood Ati is coming out with a hex-fire (6 cards at once!) motherboard in two weeks compatible with and 24 gigs of DDR4 on the motherboard.

Mathematically expressed thusly:

(16gb DDR2) + QuadSLI = (so yesterday)

These would suffice:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835118115

You cannot have 16GB on a Guad SLI board.

The only currently available SLI board does not support that much RAM or more than 1 CPU.

So in other words it is totally worthless.

Listen man, if you really have that kind of money, then go to www.alienware.com and buy whatever crazy thing they have for 10k...

I don't think you are for real, just a kid dreaming.

o and you need a Vapochill phase change cooling system for your processor and a nice water cooling system, about 850 for phase change and 600 for a good water cooling system.

Ill build you a server how about that, i can build you one with up to 8 cores of processing power :x and has PCI-X so you can have fun in the future.

You cannot get a PC with 16GB of RAM and quad 7900GTX SLI.

I does not exist.

No one can build you one with those specs right now.

The closest you can get is:

Dual Dual Core Opteron ( 4 cores ) with 16GB-64GB RAM and Dual SLI

or

4way Dual Core Opteron ( 8 cores ) with 16GB-64GB RAM and Dual SLI

or

8way Dual Core Opteron ( 16 cores ) with 16GB-64GB RAM and Dual SLI

Or try Voodoo. Cases with diamonds on the side! Base price $10k!

Also get a 42" Plasma for your Monitor and sit real close....

Then get prescription glasses

You might as well get a Dell XPS Renegade with Quad SLI and custom painted case...whatever that price is
