I just got my computer finished and decided how far I could take it, so I upped the voltage, multiplier a little and FSB ALOT this was the configuration that I found the absolute best for OCing.
screen of cpu-z
http://www.projectgreenthumb.com/super-oc.jpg

my rig:

Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI Quad Royal
Pentium 955 Extreme Edition
4 gigs of Ballistix pc 8000
2 7900 GTX's in SLI (not 4 yet...)
I-RAM in RAID0 (6gigs)
500 gig storage drive
Prometeia Mach II GT cooler (very cool I might add, no pun intended :D )

I wasn't sure if that was the fastest that it has ever been taken or not, the nestbest that I saw was at about 5 GHz...
anyway, I thought it was vaer good all the same and I going to post the benchmarks when I get them, probably tomorrow (if they will even run at this speed...)[/img]

post some benchmarks. that's a sick overclock. :)

Reply to angry_ducky

stability test for at least 12 hours with prime95. there shouldn't be any errors. anyway, you might have a world record for overclocking a pentium d.

Reply to angry_ducky

Super awesome man! Show some benchmarks if/when able. Hope it continues to run well for ya. What's the idle temp now?

...Wow I can't believe I'm raving over an Intel  :D :) :? :x   Perhaps I'm not an AMD fanboy after all!

Hmm...400th post. I'm now a TGForumz addict :!:

Wow...are you like a millionare or something? How in the world can you afford that rig???

Wow, that's pretty sick dude! Nice job!

I bet that thing is super fast. Please keep us posted as to how stable it is and possible benchmarks.

How about running SuperPI

No actually, it is not cpu-z varified. To that you upload it to their site or something. Then you provide a link to your verified information. That picture could have been done in photoshop.

Yep, it's very easy to verify. Although, I'm in a good mood at the moment and won't be 100% skeptical.

Nice OC sallad. Congratulations! Now the test is to see if it'll run stable.

Reply to a1ien

Agreed, thats a huge overclock for a 1.3-1.5v mod, and the FSB is waaaaay high, I dont know of many mobos and chipsets that could cope with that :P

CPU-Z verification please, if you do I'll eat my words :)

where do I go to send it in to get it verified???

sorry, im a bit of a noob at this whole "verification thing", I usualy just OC to entereain myself, but this was so awsome that I had to post it somewhere...

BTW, whoever said that that was a pretty sick OC @ 1.5 volts is absolutly right, mostly because it is not actually at 1.5 volts... I don't know if anybody else has had this problem with cpu-z before, but it never gives the right voltage (I think it is about 1.75v right now, HUGE DIFFERENCE) could barley even hit much past 5GHz with 1.5v.

I ran superPI last night just after I posted, but it crashed sometime even earlier in the morning than it actually is right now (still too early). I'm going to try to up the voltage a little more and see if it is more stalbe and leave it running while I'm at school(the only reason I'm up right now  )
I ment to say "to entertain myself" not that that wasn't obvious or anything...

sick clock great overclock shows some temps and some marks

I know what it's like; I'm up at 5:40 every day. How'd you get the $$$ for that rig?

like any sane 16-year old would.... their parents OH YEAH!!!! :D

who needs a job when you can syphon all the money you want from your parents?

Reply to sallad

That's not fair. My parents don't even pay for some of my clothes. If I had a computer like yours, and fried the CPU by OC'ing too high, the ambulance would have to come with a sponge :D.

Nice oc, nice cpu and nice cooling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I figured out where you are supposed to verify it... that whole "verify" button on cpu-z does the trick (feeling like an idiot) I'm at school right now, so I cant get the results uploaded until about 2:00...

Since everyone here is in different timezones...well when is 2:00? Central? Mountain? Pacific? Eastern?

Sorry I'm impatient :) Funny thing is I don't get money from my parents, but living with them and having a full-time job (paying no rent!) certainly helps!

Reply to bourgeoisdude

*Steps on soapbox*
You will never truly value that which you have, unless you have paid for it yourself. While it's nice to have parents that will buy loads of stuff for you, I predict this path will ultimately lead to you having excessive debts when you have to buy all your own stuff, since you'll not be too good at managing your cash.

Of course, I could just be bitter because my parents never spent that much on me. I had to borrow £400 from them to buy my first pc...

*Steps off soapbox*

Anyways, that's a great overclock! I'd always wanted to play with a prometia or vapochill... But since I'm buying a house, it's completely impossible to justify.

Reply to ChipDeath

wow, thats insane man, nice oc, im in school doin a project on comps so this is "research", but thats sick. u got phase change right? but DAMN!!! that is just insane, i cant get over how far u pushed that. neone no the limits on a 3.2 64bit intel cpu? i have it stable at 2.5 but no i can push it harder, i got thermal take water cooling right now so ne help would be nice, and again amazing job on that oc

Reply to DeathwingX

Read the P4 Overclocking guide. It's a sticky in one of these forums.

You don't give enough information to suggest what your problem is. Could be lack of voltage, insufficient cooling, inadequate power supply, RAM voltage, RAM timings, lack of a lock on the PCI-E/PCI bus..... etc.

Reply to ChipDeath

oh, and forgot to mention that your CPU is going to be capable of at least 4Ghz with water cooling such as you have. I would expect considerably more.

Reply to ChipDeath

Eastern, sorry

ChipDeath, I don't think that that is at all likely, because when my parents die (not to say that I want them to), I'll get all their money and spend it how I want and I dont think I could find many ways to spend it all in my lifetime... :D
Otherwise I might just consider doing work, but that takes away from my video game time (and that is no fun).

sorry, I was just reading that and it came off a little rude, ChipDeath. I didn't mean it to be rude at all, I'm just saying that I probably won't find a way to outspend my means, but I don't just want to sit on my butt all day and play games, so I'm probably going to get a job and "earn" money too...

Well if you wanted to game...why the h e double hockey sticks did you buy a Pentium D 8O? Well I guess @ 6GHz, those NOP's won't really matter then...hmm...

Welcome to the "real" world, dude :). I'm 14, and I had to earn all the money that I have. I babysat my little brother and sister (8 and 10 yrs old) for almost 2 months (never doing that again :() to earn the $$ to buy my iPod Nano.

OH YEA?! Well I had to pimp an Intel out to pay for my rig...o.O And no, I don't mean "make it look good" ;).

Unfortunate turn of phrase... but you seem to have the general idea right ;)

I'll be overclocking to 287 soon! Haha... OP, nice job on the ill-gotten stupid-GHz. Must be toasty.

I'm starting to get some "stability issues" with it clocked so high, so im going to try some more cooling... (I can't get it past 5.8 GHz without it almost instantly crashing) but I will hopefully have all of this benchmarking/verifying stuff by this weekend then I've got spring break yaaaaaay!!! :D :D :D so I will have more time to push this thing further (if it will go). Sorry for not having benchmarks posted yet  .

So, what made you think it was stable to begin with? Didn't you test it... at all? 8O

If it almost instantly crashes anything past 5.8 Ghz, then how did you get it at 6.2 Ghz long enough to take a screen shot?

Lucky you; you got early spring break :(. Try putting it in the freezer, and then maybe you won't have stability issues. Just a thought.

what I'm saying is that it is starting to crash more frequently and at lower speeds than before. I think that it just didn't like that voltage for that long and the mobo just not taking kindly to it, because my motherboard is pretty hot right now. Im going to put a cooling element on the backside of my motherboard (dry ice on the thing the motherboard is mounted on) I've used it on some of my old overclock attempts with moderate sucess. Ambient temps are much lower like that, but I think it might just be that it had been running that fast for almost a whole day. But it did run most programs with some level of stability i.e. not crashing(always a good thing)...

~~Mad Mod Mike, pimpin' the world 1 rig at a timeA Pentium X955EE would be perfectly fine for gaming; multitasking would rock too. At 6.2GHz, I'm guessing it's damn near unbeatable.

CPU-Z verify takes like... a minute to do. If you have enough time to tinker with it that much then you can at least give us all the pleasure of seeing a cpu-z verification and if we're lucky, some shots of Super Pi or Prime95 along with it. Thanks in advance.

Reply to a1ien

Hmmm..... to believe or not to believe.... that is the question.

Well I don't. Sorry.

More evidence please.

Like I said, @ 6GHz, NOP's are irrelevant. But, it appears out starling hero is having stability issues now at 5.5GHz, hmm..

assuming the 6.2ghz is stable...

assuming 2.4ghz 1mb cache is a 4000+ 1.66666x gain over prescott

assuming it means it needs to overclock an athlon64 to 3.8ghz to get the same results...

it have been done already up to 4ghz for an fx-55
opteron socket 939 can do 3.2 easily... i didn't searched the best of overclocks but the best one is the opteron 154 at 2.8ghz stock

socket am2 will come with a base 400 mhz fsb ( ddr2-800mhz )
and probably up to 500 mhz or more in overclocking.

and will be even worse using
the new 65nm process
