Hi,

I have an Ipaq 194x.. and the x is my first problem. How can I find out
from the system info if I have a compatible wireless card slot? I would
think I do but I'm not sure. The ruddy model doesn't tell me if it's a 1940
or 1945 or...... Chris? Anyone?

And second, if I do have a compatible slot for wireless:

1. Can I get a Sandisk type card with built in RAM - ie what's the best
combo to get?
2. If I go with a Dlink/Lynksys wire/wireless router combo to allow my
network to remain wired (for speed and no interference) and I go with the
'g' type standard (instead of b) will I be okay?

The scenario is that I have 2-3 computers on a router, one laptop that I'd
like to make wireless and have good 'range' throughout my house (hence the
'g') and bring the IPaq on board too if possible.

I'm not a geek and really very ignorant. I had thought to start with the
router 'upgrade' and the laptop wireless card (it's an old Dell latitude -
which has infrared which is what my phone uses).

Man! what a confuzzling world of jargon to try and master!

ALL help appreciated.

Brenda

I'm not sure how big your house is but my 802.11b router picks up great
through out the house on the deck ... and I can even connect from the street
in front of my house. Therefore, I think any router will work for you. I
recently replaced my 5 year old Linksys 802.11b wired router / D-link
wireless access point combo because the router would no longer reset with a
Netgear wireless 802.11b router which is working well.

I have a netgear router, laptop with D-link wireless PCMCIA card, iPAQ 4355
PPC (w/built in WIFI), 2 desktops with wired ethernet all working
harmoniously together.

You can use either one of the Sandisk wifi cards in your 194x. The 256k one
is better if you intend to download files a lot.
