I have had this beast for 2.5yrs...
Its what happens when your parents buy you a computer 'out of the blue' for your 18th... :twisted: :roll: :?

mobile Athlon 2400+ (Barton)
256MB RAM
Integrated graphics
HP-Compaqe........

Since then I've upgraded it by 512 RAM, then bought my shiny X2 4400+ desktop.

....I'll never recommend HP-Compaq....

Mind you it was a business notebook - I used it as a desktop gaming rig for LANs. I can get the temp down if I turn on my laptop base cooler, and my 12 inch summer fan right on the CPU.


Any other notebook horrors?

today class, we can see the relationship between then number average sperm count, and the hours using this laptop, as seen in the graph, as the hours using this laptop goes up, the sperm count goes down, exponentially.


joking aside, have ya tried to clean the dust inside? as that dust acts as an insulator and too much of it will make ur comp (pc, notebook, even mac i think) overheat....

ive seen my 3.2ghz at 81*C then i cleaned it. iget around 70-75*C
i hate playing games on it.

I have a mobile athlon 2200+ on my laptop that I've had for 2.5 years. I've seen temps go as high as 82 degrees celcius. The PSU fan broke a couple of weeks ago.

I'm running a compaq laptop, turion 64 ML-37 and 2gb of ram w/128meg video, my temp has never hit above 70C

Busted my notebook using it on my lap. We think it overheated too many times and now it's busted. Doh!

I don't like hot-tubs so I thought this would do the trick, now i have to buy another computer. Doh!

my ASUS x83v is currently at 90 c. Maxed out at 99c not using Prime 95 or anything. Just regular use at work such as having about 10 or so Firefox tabs open, Multiview, and a couple other apps all running. However it is 90 f in the building as we speak. At home though it still stays around 68 idle and 80 under load. Its only 9 months old.

Laptops generally run much hotter than desktops for obvious reason that their cases are not as well ventilated--which is one of the reasons why they often don't last as long as a desktop (I average about 2.5 years for a laptop). Try to use a chillpad or some cooling device, especially whenever you're doing a CPU/GPU-intensive task (like gaming).

yeah i know the threads dead. By the way my asus is a t5800 centrino dual core at 2ghz w/9300m gs and 4gigs ram, 250HDD.

My last one was a Gateway, same specs at 2.0 dual core, but with ati integrated graphics, 4gigs ram, but a 32bit OS. Any time i would play a game on it, 5 minutes in it would shut off. Opened her up and found a solid chunk of dust inside the side vent, it peeled right off in a single piece it was so solid. i think i still have it at home.

lol on the gateway i used to use these Polar pack gel ice packs wrapped in a towel to cool it. And yes, i;ve been through the chill pads, they dont seem to last very long. Really they just are a piece of plastic between ur lap and the notebook . The fans never really seemed to make a difference.

I dont game at all on my notebooks anymore, wised up and got a nice i7 desktop at 3.705. idles at 35 , prime load is 65.
