I have an IBM optical mouse on my NT workstation. It seems no one in the org
can use the scroll button or wheel, it just does not work. Is there any
known drivers that can enable the wheel on NT????

Thanks.....Bill

I don't have an IBM mouse but I'm used to NT4 and IBM laptops...

I guess the "qj6z40us.exe" works.

You'll find this driver many times for different IBM products eg at:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/ [...] IGR-4PJKLK

And even if it's the wrong one - a wrong mouse driver shouldn't harm your
system....

Hope this helps

Stephan

Hi Bill and Stephan,

Depending on how 'Microsoft Compatible' your mouse hardware is, the Microsoft
Intellimouse package will do what you require - I use it here.

The best versions of the software to use are V3.2 (completely freestanding) or
V4.1 (requires IE4.0 or above)

CAUTION: Do not use V2.0 or lower of Intellimouse, it is incompatible with
changes made to NT4 by recent security hotfixes.

Hi Calvin,

thank you for for this hint.
I wouldn't have thought about this option because my MS wheel mice are, unlike
my Logitech wheel mice, "fully" supported by the genuine NT4 driver. (Scrolling
works, zooming works - what am I missing?)
I don't know anything about IBM mice. Also, I've never dared to install
Intellimouse. If somebody confirmed that this driver does support other than MS
mice I give it a try (if I find one of these old versions).

I have seen mixed success using Intellimouse on 'non-MS' hardware. I suspect it
totally depends on how 'MS-compatible' the hardware is :-)

I have copies of Intellimouse V3.2 and 4.1 archived here if you would like them
- they were available for free download from the MS site, but I suspect they
have gone the way of a lot of what Microsoft likes to believe is 'obsolete'
software and has been removed from the ms.com site :-(

I personally use V3.2 Intellimouse - this is the only 'standalone' version (ie:
doesn't need IE installed on the machine) that is compatible with recent
hotfixes - earlier versions of Intellimouse are incompatible with the 'Post SP6a
security rollup' and break the mouse and keyboard.

All the best,

Calvin.

Hi Calvin,

I'm having the same problem with my mouse and I want to try your hint.
I have looked for the Intellimouse V3.2 driver but I'm not sure I'm getting the right file. I read that you have copies of those files and I want to obtain them if it is possible.

Could you please help me to get these files.

Thanks

Milton
