I have an Ebookman, it is hard to read and lasted only a year. I want
to buy something better to read my collection of ebooks and listen to
music while traveling.

I don't need a pocket computer, just a bookreader with long life
battery-power, lots of memory, and an easy to read "big" screen.

What is YOUR choice?

Maybe you want a tablet pc? ;-)

We are here in the PPC newsgroup, so I'd choose the
Toshiba e800 or any other PPC with VGA screen.
I think the Pocket PC is the perfect device for listening to
music on the go and to read if you really have to ;-). And,
you can manage everything with it - ToDo lists, notes etc.
Unfortunatley PPCs have only short battery life (a few
hours), but modern ones have much memory and really
a wonderful screen. The dpi count on PPCs with VGA
screen is very high - everything on the display looks very
good.

My choice may be best for me but won't necessarily be best for you. What is
your choice for yourself?

Honestly, my favorite thing to read on is my Handspring Treo 90. It's
comfortable in my hand and has "exelent" battery life. And you could
probably find a new one on ebay for around $100 or less. Unfortunatly, you
won't be able to listen to your music on it. I just cary my dell digital
jukebox with me.

Here is the message I wrote earlier today in answer to the question
"What is the best e-book reader" in alt.binaries.e-books:

I have for some years used a Rocketbook device but I have
now bought a Coxion Webbook reader. It is much more expensive
but compared with Rocketbook overwhelmingly superior.

The screen is 7" 800 x 480. Weight is 768 g. Operation system
Windows CE Net 4. Built-in Ethernet and Gprs. High quality keyboard
and a Compact Flash card slot.

If you use text versions of your ebooks and zip them - uReader can
read from inside zip files - there is room for a fair-sized
library (3-4000 books) on a large flash card.

The Coxion device is sold under different names in different
countries. Here in Europe it is Coxion but in some countries it
is called Zupera Smartbook. Not sure under what name it is sold
in the USA.

The uBook reader program for ARM devices works fine in Coxion.
Although the Coxion's version of Windows is CE 4.10 I found
that only the uBook HPC version for Windows CE 2.11 would work
properly.
