Straight line distances:
A village near Tenby: 197km almost due west from Cirencester
A N.Wales village: 201km a little west of north from Cirencester
A central London burb: 131km a little south of due east from Cirencester.

Surely you've heard of this one, Jack? http://www.edinburgh-tattoo.co.uk/

It's a military display. Presumably has something to do with the drum
pattern of the same name. At a guess it's a glorified parade ground
demonstration. Obviously an air tattoo happens in the air though.

Indeed.

Today was Kemble Air Day. Kemble is as close as Fairford. I got back from
Cheltenham early this evening quite surprised I hadn't heard anything of it.
Then I chased a blue bottle into the kitchen whereupon I heard a great jet
roar. I opened the back door and the Red Arrows screamed past banked 90
degrees in a diamond formation at low level above the meadow just beyond the
back garden! It fair took my breath away!

Funny thing is back in NW London I stepped out the back about a year ago and
the Red Arrows flew past at about the same height and distance on their way
to a fly-past of the RAF museum!

I'm getting to the point of asking them to let me know in advance so's I can
have the camera ready!

You should come, Jack, 'cos we're still the coolest nation on this good
earth when the PM's abroad!

Awww.......just saw this. Hey, Jack.....I am ready to go back to the UK any
old time. Elayne is presently in Scotland and has been there since June
5th. Wish we were with her.

Grinning to myself coz I just got the last bit about the PM......surprised
you lot didn't turf him out.

Off for a boring Brampton dinner.......miss that French cuisine.

Cheers......Figgs

Got back late Saturday afternoon and had left my mind in Quebec, grin. Took
me 24 hours to *get with it*. Had a wonderful time even tho it rained most
of it.

Phoning Elayne tomorrow in Kirkton, Scotland and she will be going to
Chester on the 23rd, I believe.....then home to Vancouver on the 25th,
assuming she finds a way to get to the airport from there. But she has been
doing the trains and buses in Scotland and has had no problems, Jeannie
said. Oddly enough, it was $100 cheaper to fly home from Manchester than
Glasgow. Her trip actually cost less than ours and she lives 3 hours
further away!! Went by ZOOM Airlines. We will use them too next time.

Cheers.....Heather
