hello

I just bought an AOpen 1551-AW1 laptop with a wide screen resolution of
1280X800 - this ratio is 3:2 and not the standard 4:3.
problem is winodws doesn't recognize this ratio and offers only standard
800X600 / 1024X768 which are fine for text and most programs but all images
are displayed too wide.

all drivers are installed correctly but AOpen doesn't have display card and
or screen driver and uses windows drivers.

Is there any way to add another resolution option to the display properties
menu ?

You need to get the drivers specific to the video card in your laptop. I
have a toshiba 17" wide screen that does 1440x900 and it requires the
vendor specific drivers to do those res. You need to call AOpen and hound
them until they get you the right drivers.

Most laptops now use specific video cards. The two most widely used makers
are nVidia and Ati. Find out which video card manufacturer's card is in
your laptop and then look on their web site.
