I have a home network with Windows 2003 RC1 and a linksys wrt54g router. I
have a linksys pci card in my system.

The linksys software will not install on my server since it only supports
"home" operating systems. Therefore, I am forced to use the RC1 wireless
features for my solution.

I have tried both WEP and WPA shared. In both instances, I find my computer
can not acquire and address if the SSID broadcast is disabled. If I have it
enabled, then disable, the computer is able to re-establish a connection. If
I reboot the system, it can not establish a network connection unless I
enable it for a minute. While dealing with intermitten outages, I'm forced
to use an ethernet connection for backup.

When I use the linksys drivers on my Windows 98 system, I notice it works
fine with the broadcast disabled.

Any suggestions ?

Enable SSID broadcast; it's that simple. Disabling SSID broadcast is
counterproductive to using WZC which needs SSID broadcast. Enabling
SSID broadcast has no significant security implications if you invoke
the basic security of WEP/WPA, IP filtering.
