Has anyone else noticed this problem? If you download still images from a
Sony TRV460's memory stick via USB, you get the correct resolution of 640 by
480. However, if you download the same still images from the TRV460 by
Firewire, you get files that have a resolution of 360 by 240, which not so
coincidentally is one half of the DV resolution of 720 by 480. None of the
settings on the camcorder (fine vs. standard, frame vs. field) have any
effect on the resolution. Interestingly enough, the jpg files downloaded via
firewire are only 15 to 30KB, as opposed to the normal size of around 150KB.
My guess is that there is a bug in the Windows XP WIA driver that is not
allowing it to read the EXIF header information in the camera's jpg files
correctly. I'm running XP SP2 on a brand new PC. Has anyone else seen this
behavior with this or other model Sony digital camcorders?

Actually, I have been trying to get a 720x480 resolution frame capture
via firewire. I was told the limitation was my Hi8 camcorder (TRV330)
but when I tried to do the same with a MiniDV camcorder (TRV18) I
still get the same 360x240 resolution. So I'm back to thinking it's a
Windows capture limitation, too.
