Hi,

I'm currently looking for stand-alone, enclosed, network HDD's that are
stackable and have both built-in ethernet and wireless network capability.

I came across such a piece of hardware a couple months ago, but don't seem
to be able to relocate it. Unfortunetly, I don't recall the manufacturer.
I am putting together a project that is going to require an estimated 2.5
TBytes of storage space and would like to use such hardware.

Looking for:

- Simplicity of stand-alone, modular, units. Due to the nature of this
project, these units will be required to be physically moved often from
location to location, network to network. Preference would be for each
device to be 500 GBytes, but if need be could also work with 300 to 400
Gbytes each.

- Everything already built in. No drivers necessary to be installed on any
computer, regardless of OS, in order to access the units over ethernet or
wireless. Preference for wireless would be 802.11a and/or 802.11g. No
extra hardware (i.e., wireless/ethernet bridges) required. I know there are
external kits for drives (which I'm using now), but I would like to just get
the hardware already pre-fabricated with everything needed right "in the
box".

- Installation simplicity. Some of the people involved in this particular
project aren't the most "computer savy", so the drive needs to become
acccesible from simply just plugging it into their router, or accessing the
unit's wireless configuration (web based, preferable) and pointing it
towards their wireless router/AP.

- Cost. Overly expensive corporate hardware can be ruled out. The device I
saw a couple months about was selling for about $480 for, I believe, 400
Gbytes. I wanting to keep the total cost of 2.5 Tbytes at (or around)
$3,000.

There is a reason for the hardware being moved often. Otherwise, I would be
considering just keeping the hardware in place at different locations and
taking an over-the-internet VPN approach.

I wish I could recall this particular piece of hardware that I saw a couple
months ago. It would be absolutetly perfect for what I'm looking for right
now. I'd just purchase six of them. Anyone come across what this hardware
recently?

Thanks!
-Eric
