Has anyone downloaded Netscape 6 yet? Does it improve stability over 4? I have Red hat 7 installed and it came with 4.xx. It crashes all the time. Does anyone know if it looks normal yet? As in can you read the pages without changing the font/size?

Netscape 6 is crap. It crashes even <i>more</i> than Netscape 4, it reeks of AOL, and the fonts are only slightly better. Plus, some sites don't come up at all on NS6 (this is more of a problem than it was on NS4.xx).

Your best bet is <A HREF="http://www.mozilla.org/" target="_new">Mozilla</A> or KDE's Konqueror. Mozilla is based on Netscape 4 code, so it has much the same Java interface as Netscape and can import Netscape plugins.

Thanks Kelledin! This is so much better. The Mozilla toolbars look the same as Netscape 4. I know its based off Netscape 5 but damn.... it looks like a copy! lol. anyway thanks for the help.

Hi,

IMHO Opera 5.0 is the best browser for Linux, the fonts
look better than Netscape and its user interface is better.
The free version is supported by a banner ad :-(
but if you register it that goes away.

I was using Mozilla 0.8 as an email client but found it
painfully slow on my PII 350 running Mandrake 7.2

I'm back on Netscape 4.75 for email, less functionality,
but fast and reliable.

Mike
