In the THG 12/16/2004 review "Notebook Cooler Pads: Do you need one?", it was clear that the reviewer thinks that the Cool Master Coolpad is superior to the Vantec LapCool2 for dissipating heat from notebook computers.

However, when I've read other reviews, a couple of them report that the Coolpad's heat dissipation is only about 2-3 degrees C. One review reported that the LapCool2 dissipates about 2 degrees C. with a low fan, 4 degrees with a medium fan, and 8 degrees with a high fan.

1. How can Tom Hardware's Guide review and these other reviews be so different for heat dissipation?

2. Has anyone in this forum had any experience with the Coolpad and/or LapCool2/LapCool and care to comment about how much difference these cooling pads have made for you?
