Hello, I'm wondering which band is used primarily in southern
california and if I can somehow find out exactly which band is used for
a specific location I'm in. My phone is dual band so ofcourse its
either 800 or 1900. I found the following post but its from 2003 so it
may be out-dated:

There's no 800 in the U.S. Just 1900 and the newer 850.

Steve, in the wireless industry, 800 is synonymous with 850. And yes,
there is plenty of 800 in the U.S. In fact, 800 was deployed long
before 1900, which is also known as the PCS band.

Now, if one wants to be punctilious about it, I suppose we could get
very specific and refer to 800-A, or 800-B, or 800 SMR, or 800 trunked,
or 800 celluar, or any other of the many labels utilized for the
spectrum between 800 Mhz and 900 Mhz, but you get my point.

Steve, "850" *is* 800! 800 Mhz is what's referred to as cellular. Of
course there's cellular in Philadelphia!

Verizon isn't 1900 in Southern California, either. They may have some 1900
overlays but they're primarily 800.

Verizon is primarily 800 everywhere except parts of Florida and Texas, as
far as I know.
