i am thinking of buying a HP dv1310 notebook and on the hp website it says the batter that comes with it provides "over 3 hours of computing". can someone tell me if some kind of extended life battery exists for this system?

There is an extended battery life for every system out there, but there is a trick to it, you HAVE to BUY an EXTRA battery wich WILL give you an EXTRA battely LIFE which is TWICE as much as the regular one.

..this is very useful and helpful place for information...

Some notebooks also have a brick that the notebook sits on and clips to which supplies power.
Some you can only put battery in one bay, others you can put battery in either bay or have both bays with a battery each.
Depends on your model.

And the sign says "You got to have a membership card to get inside" Huh
So I got me a pen and paper And I made up my own little sign</pre><p></font color=red>

I have a dv1000 that I bought directly from HPonline shopping. I love this thing. It has a wide screen, great with Brite View (some don't like it), and weights is little over 5 pounds.

Yep, if you use the big battery, it will add weight as well as useful life.

I generally carry the power cord and AC adapter with me when I take out the dv1000. I do not use a so-called notebook case or backpack, but a "sleeve" by Sumdex called Impact Guard (about $25US).

Although the dv1000 is said to be a 14" screen, it is a 14" wide screen. this means that I had to get the Sumdex ImpartGuard for 15.4" notebooks. The dv1000 fits snugly in this size sleeve, with enough room left over at the top to fold in the power cord and AC adapter. You can slide in some papers and documents as well if it's a business call.

Thus, no big battery is needed if I end up somewhere where there's a electrical socket.
