What features will be crippled? Does anyone know what Verizon
will be selling this phone for? Hopefully no where near the $500 that
this guy is trying to get.

The Audiovox CDM 9900 is my choice for next phone. My "New Every Two" ($100
credit) is available in the last week of November. I called Verizon and
asked for a price estimate .... was told about $229 with a 2 yr contract.

I believe its going to be $219.99 on 2 year, $269.99 on 1 year, $319.99 full
retail price. Also will have a $70 MIR.

How's the 8900 different from the 9900?

A general fact about "audiovox" phones. The 4000, 4500 9100, 9500 and
latest 9900 are made in JAPAN by Toshiba. Toshiba makes very high
quality cell phones. The other Audiovox models are made in Korea by
other makers, IIRC including Curitel and Hyundai. The Japanese models
are considered much better phones all around. Some of the Korean
models were very poor performers. I have owned several of the
Japaenese Audiovoxs and they are all still working fine.
Not perfect but a cut above the rest.
I have used an old 4500 as an extended loaner for friends phones that
break for years. It still works perfectly. Taking it apart the build
quality is evident.
Not everyone likes the Audiovox menus and buttons.
Toshiba displays are generally high quality.
The 9900 display is one of the finest available on a cellphone. It's
very similar to the currently available sprint model 4050 with a few
buttons altered and different firmware.
I would not buy a non Toshiba made Audiovox.

As to the auction. Hey, all price is negotiable and by agreement.
There's nothing wrong with making an offer or declining one. The 9900
will be out in a few days for public purchase on Verizon anyway.
Should be out by the 1st of Oct. Wait one year and the price will be
even even cheaper..guaranteed.

I'm told the 9900 will be replacing the 8900 ... hence the rebate/sale on
the 8900's lately.

I like the larger screen and greater color palet on the 9900 and that it is
still a tri-mode phone. It a natural more/bigger/better upgrade.

My current phone (for the past 22 months) has been an Audiovox 9155 GPS
(Japanese). Have be very happy with it ... but for my slowly failing
eyesight in dim light and with small print. The 9900's screen size of
240x320 pixels, 260k color TFT, and tri mode radio sold me. Of course, all
that is up for review if it turns out to be hype. LOL

Bad enough I have to wait until the end of this November for my 2yr contract
to run its course so I can get the "new every two" credit.

Thanks for the links.

I have the 8900 and it seems to be working ok - my first cell phone
so I don't have much to compare it with.

It did come with a big rebate, but after a month I'm still waiting
to get the $$ back from them.

Cheers,
Esmail

Do you think they will upgrade the speakerphone volume to the quality
of the Motorolas and LGs?

In previous models it has been reported as unusable in any kind of
noisy enviornment.

Took 1 month and 1 week to get my rebates on the Samsung a670s.

LOL WHO KNOWS, right? The speakerphone on my Audiovox 9155 is ok but ...
I don't have an LG or Moto to compare it to. If I wish to share a
conversation with a passenger in the car with me, the 9155's speaker can
handle that task. It's certainly not a miniture public address system!

Why should anyone trust .... you? What qualifications do you have to make
such a statement about an Audiovox phone that has yet to go on sale?

Don't waste your time on this "Opentoe" idiot. He's been trolling
around looking for any opportunity to trash Verizon. Obviously, he
has a very full life...
